We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexia Cracken and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexia, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
Moving from my home country Argentina to United States, where I didn’t know anyone, I didn’t spoke the language very well. Having to leave my life, and family, to search for something new.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Every photographer is different, our art is unique, so in my opinion that’s what sets me apart from others. I’m proud of where I’m at right now but excited about the future, everything is changing for good. I started photography as a hobby, since I was a teenager I knew I wanted to do something related to art. I love seeing things through my camera. Its never easy to be an artist, there’s always gonna be something that you’ll want to change, maybe because of someone’s opinion, or just because you’ve changed. But when that happens you just gotta go with the flow . You get to learn that you can’t please everyone, and that if they don’t like your art it’s okay, not everyone will like you.
I would like for people to be able to feel what i feel everytime i take a picture, even if it’s only one person.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Right after picking my friend from the airport on saturday, i’ll take her to seaport village, walk around, take some pictures, eat something at cheesecake factory, come back to my house, get ready for the night, we’ll go to renagade country bar or moonshine flats to line dancing. Sunday we would Spend the morning and afternoon at Coronado beach, bike around the island, get some beers and food from Mcp’s irish pub most of the time they have live music, go to Hotel Del Coronado to watch the sunset. Monday morning we would go to have Breakfast at Copper Top Coffee & Donuts , then get ready for a shopping day in mission valley, and then watch the sunset at sunset cliffs. On Tuesday we will go to Balboa Park and the museums that are there and have lunch inside the park. Then have tea in the japanese garden. Finally have dinner at Harumama Noodles in little Italy. We would have breakfast at home Wednesday morning, then go to la jolla and see the sea lions, the caves, and have some food near the beach. Thursday we will get some boba tea from the Milk lab, have a picnic at kate sessions park, and Belmont park to end the day. Friday, we would go to pacific beach for the day and then to the bar moonshine beach for the night for line dancing. Saturday would be for the Farmers market in the Del mar fairgrounds. The last day we will eat at Harumama noodles as a see you soon meal. In my perspective, harumama noodles in little italy is one of the best places to have vegan ramen, and boa buns. The Del mar farmers market also has good dumplings, but I can’t recall the name of the place. Moonshine flats or moonshine beach is a good place to go if you like a little bit of country dancing and live music. Coronado in my opinion is one of the most beautiful places to ride your bike or longboard. Last but not least I’ll always recommend the farmers market because you can find a lot of good/new things.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It took a lot of effort and tears to get to where I am now, but my family, friends and partner were/are there for me, and I’m appreciated for it.
