Meet Germany Kent | Author and Media Personality Germany Kent Speaks on Faith, Career, and ‘Keeping it Real’

We had the good fortune of connecting with Germany and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Germany, what do you attribute your success to?
I would have to say my faith. My blueprint for success is simple – Keep the faith, do what makes you happy, and don’t lose yourself in the process. It’s amazing to see how far God has brought me, and I give him all of the honor and praise for this beautiful life.
Year after year, there is no comparison to the realization that God is the one who has ordered my steps. A little older and a lot wiser, I know now that it has been God directing me, sometimes carrying me, and leading me on a path of righteousness for his name sake. He’s been so faithful for all my years, making dreams come true, helping me to connect with my tribe, and giving me the ability to help others realize their potential.
Know this: God uses you in your daily walk. That’s why it is important to exercise self-control and discernment when making moves, especially money moves. Always proceed with caution so that you can be proud of your journey.
I can also say that the success of my brand is deeply rooted in service. I try to be a champion for youth and women’s empowerment, anti-bullying and staying true to who God has called me to be, as it relates to mentorship and guiding others. My goal is to challenge and encourage others to believe that the life they want is possible.
Each day it is important that I realize I am a walking billboard for God. Because of my faith, I approach business differently from a lot of people. I used to just sign on to do different projects because it was fun. I had to cut that out. I changed my stance from just existing to living on purpose, associating myself with quality projects and investing time in things that are purpose driven. That to me is the ultimate fantastic voyage, living a purpose driven life.
I do believe that I have the patience and focus to attract the right opportunities which are faith-filled. I’m on a wavelength where I want to show the world that anything is possible when you trust God to navigate your life. It’s all about understanding your role in the Kingdom, in who you are becoming, and how you influence the world with your gifts and talents. I am all about Kingdom Business.
The projects that I’m working on now have a strong faith element or human interest component. As a content creator, I believe it is important to channel my storytelling ambition and creativity to develop powerful relatable stories that evoke emotion, and inspire change. My intention is to do work that is fulfilling and allows me to make a difference in the world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Sure, and thank you. I have had so many remarkable experiences, and varied career paths. From time spent as a former FOX News anchor to a filmmaker and producer, commercial actress and print model, entrepreneur, author, social activist, and philanthropist, it’s been a fun ride. As a celebrity journalist, I’ve interviewed Oscar, Golden Globe, Emmy, Tony, and Grammy-winning performers, pro athletes, business tycoons, politicians and other newsmakers. To date, I’ve interviewed hundreds of celebrities including the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Shriver, Eric Garcetti, Debbie Allen, Diddy, Cathy Hughes, Phylicia Rashad, Gloria Allred, Louis Gossett Jr., Vanessa Williams, Tarell Alvin McCraney, Jon Voight, Nigel Lythgoe, and Matthew McConaughey, just to name a few.
I have been blessed to work as a SAG-AFTRA actress and model appearing in advertisements for Disney, Nike, AT&T, Chase, Coorslight, eHarmony, Nike, Carrier, LA Galaxy, City National Bank, Macy’s, Target, Bud Light, Pepsi and Verizon, just to name a few. I’ve also had an opportunity to appear on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta, in primetime TV shows such as Criminal Minds, Jessie, Graceland, The Doctors, Let’s Make A Deal, countless lifestyle shows, and been featured in music videos alongside Mary J. Blige, Take 6 and Stevie Wonder.
I thank God that I’ve been able to use my influence as a trusted media resource, and social media etiquette pundit, which has been a segway to being featured and interviewed as a national authority in Inc. Magazine, Fast Company, Forbes, Bloomberg Business, Hartford Business, The Dallas Morning News, The Examiner, HuffPost, Yahoo News, MSN, Cosmopolitan, and countless others.
I’ve been asked to serve on numerous panels to offer my expertise and I do not take it for granted. One of my most treasured panels to date would be when Soledad O’Brien allowed me to come and offer advice at her national PowHerful conference speaking to youth about branding. I’ve also had the opportunity to speak at various colleges, including Georgia Tech, where I spoke at the Stamps Scholars National Convention about journalism and social media.
I am dedicated to empowering youth, and encouraging participation in the Arts, fostering support of literary programs, and steadfast in my commitment to speaking out against bullying and cyberbullying. I am also excited about the work being done by individuals and organizations to shine a light on mental health awareness, domestic abuse, awareness and prevention. Also those who provide mentorship initiatives, preparing young people to be future leaders.
My life would not be complete without being a Humanitarian. Giving back to society is my number one priority. We each have an opportunity and responsibility to show day in and day out how to make life better for all of us. I believe everybody should be raising an awareness for something greater than themselves, a cause that will be of help to humanity. I also acknowledge that I have a responsibility to provide service to society because I’m standing on the shoulders of so many remarkable women who have come before me. As the old saying goes, too much is given, much is required. My motto is, if you’re not reaching back to help anyone, then you’re not building a legacy.
I understand that the actions I’m taking now will influence what I’m able to do in the future and I’m here for all of it: the thrills, the experiments, new levels, activism, change, the surprises, the sunrises, the sunsets, the escapes, the feeling of awe, growth, new beginnings, and smiling more. My day job and my night job sort of demands my full attention and that is making sure that I take care of my mind, body, and soul. That is my job, not someone else’s. Getting to know yourself and liking who you are brings a new level of joy to life. Do what you like and like what you do. Don’t look for somebody else to define you or fill a void. If you love yourself, others will, too.
My bio is still being written. Now is the time to exert my energy in a new direction. I’m open to being uniquely positioned for such a time as this and only want what is ordained for me. I have a global mindset and a desire to include diverse audiences in everything I approach. This next level where God is taking me will be in front of a global audience, and I’m up for the challenge.
Next up, I am moving to make the difference alone or with anyone who will move with me to make real change happen. Currently I sit on the board for All Cops Ain’t Bad, a nonprofit organization based in Atlanta that aims to change the narrative to build positive relationships and bridge the gap between law enforcement and citizens. The program brings youth under the positive influence of local cops and increases public awareness regarding the role of law enforcement. We also seek to allow youth to have their voices heard as it relates to cops and the community.
I also sit on the board for Women of Prominence Los Angeles. With this initiative, we train communities in public speaking, life skills, and etiquette. We also train people in various media capacities like video, audio, radio and podcast production. We bring people into a 3,000 sq. ft pre/post-production studio on Wilshire. It is also set up to help people do their studio shows in front of a live audience, which we have helped to facilitate. We also facilitate casting and recommend talent for various projects. In the past, I have taken people out into the field and trained them on becoming red carpet hosts, production assistants, photographers and videographers, helping others segway into the media, arts and entertainment space. I also help people with their commercial auditions [how to win the room, what to wear, handling callbacks, avails, etc.] and guide talent on being successful print models.
I’m happy to help wherever I’m needed, especially for social causes. During the week, I also volunteer at a local food pantry in the South Bay where we continue to fight food insecurity caused by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. My greatest strength and satisfaction is being a servant, helping others. I am truly passionate about that.
Fresh off of serving as a media correspondent and red carpet host for the 2022 Preach The Word Worldwide Network TV Global Broadcasters Convention in Atlanta, I am eager to be more involved with faith-based collaborations. It’s easy to stay busy but, I want to be busy for God. It is my mission and desire to have a Kingdom agenda and make sure that everything that I’m attached to nowadays glorifies Him. Fast forward to October 25-31, I’ll be teaming up with Solombra Ingram’s LA-based nonprofit I’m Every Woman (IEW), as an ambassador and reporter to document survival stories and champion women’s empowerment in the Bahamas.
I am here to model what is possible when faith intersects with imagination and to live beautifully every day.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d certainly take them to the beach, my absolute favorite place to be. Los Angeles has a wealth of hidden gems from Manhattan Beach to Malibu, from Culver City to Universal City, Hollywood Blvd. Koreatown, Downtown LA, University of Southern California campus, SoFi Stadium, Inglewood to West Hollywood, not to mention shopping and eating in Beverly Hills. So the possibilities are truly endless. These are just some of the fun, interesting places and things they need to check out. I’d love to take them to attend a Hollywood event with me to personally mingle with celebrities so they can have that magical experience. I could not let them visit Southern California without meeting the biggest celebrity of them all, that would be Mickey Mouse of course, when we hit up Disneyland – one of my all-time favorite SoCal spots. We’d also check out the nightlife at Downtown Disney or CityWalk at Universal Studios Hollywood. And last but not least, to cap off the week they need to allot time on Sunday to attend ONE – A Potter’s House Church, led by Pastors Touré Roberts and Sarah Jakes Roberts, which a service there is sure to leave them feeling like they had the best time ever in the City of Angels.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m shouting out brilliant cartoonist and renowned author, the late great Dr. Seuss for his intriguing body of work. I love his book, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! So many days I have drawn inspiration and motivation from reading his books. I would also like to shout out the beautiful and extraordinary late poet Maya Angelou for mentoring me from a distance. She was full of grace, charm, intelligence, sophistication, wisdom and humor. I loved her. She literally wrote the script on what it means to be a phenomenal woman. There are many other phenomenal, smart, strong, powerful women I’d like to shout out who have encouraged and empowered me along this journey, even to this day. Rarely do you find me without a mentor at any given time. My circle is amazing. I’m grateful for the queen and kings who inspire me daily to want to be bolder, braver, and better. For everybody who has supported me and made a difference in my life, I am so very grateful.
