We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Ellis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leah, what’s your definition for success?
For me, success is the moment when a client calls me excited because something I taught them is making a difference in their lives. Sometimes the call is because they did their first budget without using a credit card, and sometimes it is because they paid off another debt or their last debt. I love hearing that the things I teach aren’t just “lectures” but are actually making their lives better.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We started Endeavor because we were looking for a way to replace the income I lost when COVID canceled our childcare re-opening. It quickly turned from personal coaching for adults to a full-fledged curriculum teaching teens everything they need to know about money. So now, I get to be a teacher, a speaker, a coach, and a mentor for people of all ages who want to “slay money dragons,” and I’m even writing a book!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Starting in North County, we’d definitely hit the Musical Road and Joe Davies Air Park/Blackbird Park. We’d also make sure to take a stroll down the BLVD in Lancaster to take in the local beers, burgers, and music. We’d also stop by the Farmer’s Market on Thursday night for the best tacos!
Definitely visit the Desert Preserve to appreciate all the desert had to offer before it was developed. Charlie Brown Farms is another local oddity I take every visitor to check out, and then we can swing by the Swap Meet on 138 to see what local wares are up for sale.
In the end, we’d venture down to LA to visit the California Science Center and see the Space Shuttle Endeavour. After all, I named my business after that shuttle, I have to make sure my friends and family get to stand under it in awe, just like my husband and I did when we first moved to California.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband for inspiring me to launch this business and for supporting me as I grow and pivot where I want to lead. My mother-in-law for being patient and giving us Financial Peace University
