We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracy Guzman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tracy, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
This is a very important question for me since I’ve always had to work very hard for everything. I’ve learned that you always keep going!! Every morning when you wake up you have to believe that nothing comes from quitting, every day is a new opportunity to try again, to keep dreaming, keep believing in your dream, keep believing that you’re made for more and then one day everything is gonna be worth it. Perseverance is the key to success, nothing can beat someone who never gives up!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve been a Licensed Esthetician for over two years now and I love it! I love helping women to feel empowered and confident about themselves. Because of that I decided to become an Acne Specialist and help as many people as I can to overcome the hard time that is not feeling confident without makeup or not wanting to go out because of acne, and seen my clients reactions once their skin improves makes everything worth it and makes my heart very happy. I was a Dental Assistant prior to becoming an Esthetician, but I always wanted to have my own business and to be able to help people, so I went to esthetics school while I was working full time as a Dental Assistant, so I went to school every night for about 8-9 months, I graduated in March 2020 and starte my own business in September 2020, so 6 months after and in the middle of the pandemic, but I had a dream and I believed that I could make it. I was still working full time as a Dental Assistant while seen my clients at my studio from 5pm to 10 pm and on the weekends, it was sooo tiring and so rewarding because I was building my clientele little by little. In July 2021, so 10 months after opening my own studio, I was able to quit my Dental Assistant job and now I have a full schedule in my own studio with my own clients and I’m so blessed for that.
I want the world to know, that nothing is impossible if you work hard enough, if you believe in yourself, if you dream big and if you have faith. Nothing is easy but everything is possible if you want it bad enough and if you fight for it. To see my clients faces when they look at the mirror after a treatment is my reward that all the hard work is worth it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love a good lunch at Playa Mesa in Costa Mesa, chips and salsa, some fajitas and some margaritas! Also we love to take our friends that come visit us for a duffy ride in Newport Beach. See the sunset at the fire pits in Huntington Beach making some s’mores. Love camping so a couple of nights camping in Big Bear, enjoying the lake.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband. We are from Costa Rica and moved to California 6 years ago because of his work. I had to start from zero once I was here, working as a Dental Assistant and dreaming of my dream job and my own business and he supported me all the way, financially, emotionally, legally, without him anything that I have now wouldn’t be possible.
