We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Landeen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Desperately wanting to follow my own creativity and curiosity and live an inspired life, on my own terms, was absolutely essential!

It’s no surprise that after 10+ years of working Monday through Friday, 40+ hours a week behind a desk and inside an office, that my heart felt lost, and my spirit started gently rumbling. Those subtle messages eventually turned into louder and louder roars, and it was becoming harder and harder to ignore it.

In 2018, I decided I could no longer carry on with business as usual, and found myself having a heart to heart asking some pointed and direct questions. Questions such as, if I knew I would succeed, what would I do? What do I enjoy doing? What are my superpowers? What brings me joy, calm, peace? When do I feel my best? After asking myself these heart-centered questions, I took time to reflect and listen. I couldn’t hide from the answers, and it was time to make my move. Once I was able to gain some level of clarity around these questions, I decided to set a few goals and I made a one-year game plan outlining how I was going to make it happen. I worked the hell out of my plan for 12 months using a very simple system (which I now teach others to use), and I’m beyond proud to say that I was in fact able to exit out of my 9-5 and go full time in my own coaching business as planned.

I’m not saying it wasn’t scary, or messy, or that I had everything figured out…because I didn’t! But I’ve learned that some of the best clarity comes through action. I didn’t want to just dream about the life I craved and so deeply desired…I wanted to LIVE.IT!

Thus, my journey into entrepreneurship and being my own CEO began…and there’s no going back!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I love walking alongside my clients as they journey from dreaming, to doing, to ultimately BEING!

As a Business Strategy & Action Coach for women entrepreneurs who are feeling a bit scattered and overwhelmed by all the thoughts, ideas, and shiny things swirling around in that beautiful powerful brain, I have the honor of holding a safe container for my clients to grow, transform, align, and elevate in their life, business, sales, and impact.

I started my business a few years back for this very reason. In addition to my highly effective 1:1 Strategy Slay coaching program, I also work have a powerful and magical online group membership, The Elevated Entrepreneur Collective. One thing I notice that’s a challenge for many entrepreneurs, especially nowadays, is we end up quickly getting overwhelmed and confused by all the programs, coaches, shiny things, and latest and greatest. There really isn’t one place to go that has alignment and cohesion across all the areas, such as business and social media strategy, mindset mastery, and creating healthy lifestyle habits. This is why I created The Collective…because there’s nothing else like it and it’s greatly needed. A massive support system that has your back through genuine connections and relationships, timely trainings, resources, accountability, networking, and promotional opportunities. It’s incredible…I only wish I had something like this when I started my business.

Building this community for high-achieving women who are calling-in and claiming clarity, calm, and focused action in their life and business is what has me jumping out of bed in the morning with a smile in my heart!

I’m also the host of The Outdoor Entrepreneur podcast, which showcases how creatives and entrepreneurs from around the globe have been able to create businesses that combine their love for the outdoors with a career. FUN!!

Creating a life by design includes building a business that lights a fire within. I am beyond grateful that I get to be a small part of helping others live their own inspired life and build their own beautiful business!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love that laid-back beach vibe feel. As much as I love to plan things, when in SoCal I really try to go with the flow and instead of planning it all out in advance, I let the FUN find me!

I’d recommend picking one primary thing for each day, and then let the rest unfold without any expectation or judgment. I have found some of the most FUN and interesting things have happened to me when I approach the days with this mentality.
And of course, it’s always great to support the local small business owners and entrepreneurs whenever possible, so keep that in mind as you explore.

Here’s a simple yet charming itinerary that leaves plenty of room for the unplanned joy to find you!

Day 1 – Grab a cup of coffee and start with a morning stroll along Santa Monica beach (or any beach for that matter). After you’ve enjoyed the morning air and soaked up some rays, head over to Recontained, a zero-waste refill store, for a gorgeous shopping experience, and support a local business with a big mission. There’s lots of great little shops and yummy restaurants in this area too.

Day 2 – One of my absolute favorite beaches is Laguna Beach. Make a reservation for a stand up paddle board rental or lesson with Sunset Stand Up Paddle. This is a fabulous way to get all the good energy that come with spending time outdoors, plus connecting with a fun local business.

Day 3 – Walk! Find a neighborhood, beach, boardwalk, (or your favorite podcast), whatever…and start roaming! This allows you to slow down, be present, and step into the local scene. You’ll see things you might not otherwise notice, meet people who will tell you about community events going on, and find the local gems and hot spots. This is a must!

That’s it! Enjoy the simple things and let the magic of the moment sweep you away.

Dream it, Live it, and Happy Adventuring!
