Meet Cecily Kelly | Yoga Instructor and Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cecily Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cecily, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Connection. Bringing people together. Like minded people, people searching for something more, people wanting to get outside of their comfort zone, people looking for growth. I wanted to create a safe space with wellness retreats, workshops, yoga classes, yoga parties so people were able to enjoy not only movement of their body but a shift in their mind as well. Being able to grow upwards while also finding deep roots in the present! Part of Twin Star Yoga and connection is yes, about connecting to ourselves and the people around us but also our community! At a lot of Twin Star Events we encourporate local and small businesses to help showcase them! Bring to light how so many people have branched out on their own and created amazing products.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Creating Twin Star Yoga was definitely the hardest thing I have ever done. To put my heart and soul into a company that I believed in so much was terrifying! You step outside of that comfort zone and somehow you automatically feel like you’re failing. Because its new and because you care so much youre wondering if you are doing enough! But then I teach a yoga class and can see the way stress just rolls off people backs or I host a wellness retreat and the break throughs people have in their own lives show how its all worth it. I believe in Twin Star Yoga. I believe we can never stop growing. We can learn from each other and support one another on the bad days. Celebrate each other on the good days and find beauty in the chaos of life. I have learned through this experience of trying to develop Twin Star Yoga that you have everything you need inside of you. It’s always been there. Sometimes it’s hard to find. It might be buried deep. but then you meet someone who supports you or challenges you to unlock the things you needed. But it all starts with you. Take your first step. Join a class, attend a work shop, commit to a retreat! And I promise you. You will find out how truly wonderful and strong you are.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Farmers Markets! There are so many great ones around me! I live in Dana Point so I go to the weekly one there a lot! Markets are a great way to get involved in the community as well as support small businesses! Plus there is always fabulous things to buy! I never walk away without something! The beach is a must! If my friends are visiting from out of town all day beach hangs are epic! Even on colder days! At the San Clemente beach or Doheny there are fire pits for the days you just want to relax and sit listening to the waves. And I do love a Happy Hour. So hanging out at Station Craft Brewery or Craft house watching the sunset!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family, friends and husband Ryan are truly amazing. They supported me on all my crazy endeavors and ongoing dreams. Ryan has always been an amazing sounding board and been with me every step of the way. The yoga community and all the people that have been apart of Twin Star Events. These people are my rock they give me inspiration and so much light. They are the reason I do what I do. and I am so in awe of them as people and as friends. My friend Jesse who first introduced me to yoga and helps me see the world in different ways. Who challenges me to persist and think beyond what I thought was possible. “I’m so lucky to have these wonderful souls in my life!
