We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Shearer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Authenticity! It sounds cliché but it’s so true. Building a brand that felt right to me was important both personally and professionally. It’s hard to build a business around something that doesn’t resonate with you and I think my clients/community can see right through that. Building a brand that was unique and personal was my number one goal.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a holistic health and wellness coach. I focus on the connection between physical and mental wellbeing. Thankfully, this topic is being talked about more and more, but we are still breaking down the stigma. I went to school for both nutrition and psychology. I love the combination of the two so I surround my business around that. For so long I was so stuck on what I wanted to do and where I wanted to be, but health was always a passion of mine so I knew I had to do something with it. Building a coaching practice from scratch is definitely not easy and I am learning each and every day. I’ve had to navigate different areas of finances, sales, marketing, and even boundaries. I am a learner at heart, so diving deep into these things was tough but fun. I really try to prioritize a healthy work/life balance. My goal is for people to view my brand, as well as health and mental health in general, as approachable, important, and sustainable. I want physical and mental wellness to be accessible for everyone.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have lived in LA for nearly 2.5 years but I feel like there is still so much to explore! I love the west side. I would have to take them to the beach, of course. We would also have to hit up some of my favorite wellness spots. Maybe we start the day with a workout at The Studio MDR or SolidCore. Afterward we would grab a smoothie or breakfast burrito at Erewhon Market then walk around Abbott Kinney. I love taking friends to Den Mother Wellness for a sauna and cold plunge session. They also have amazing adaptogenic lattes. We would end the day with dinner and drinks at Elephanté because #balance! Other spots I love to eat at are Wabi on Rose (huge sushi fan), Chulita, John and Vinny’s, and Irori (hidden spot in Marina Del Rey). For coffee or healthy treats I love Little Lunch Venice and Moon Juice. Great White has the best breakfast burritos! At some point during the weekend we would have to go for a hike. There are some stunning places in Malibu and the Pacific Palisades and we would have to stop at Sun Life organics for a smoothie or match. I’m a big foodie if you can’t tell.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents for allowing me to choose my own path and guiding me along the way.
