Meet Jamie Rose Lee | Marketing Manager & Freelance Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Rose Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie Rose, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I’m a huge advocate of work hard, play hard – I think that’s what makes me most successful in all aspects of my life: my corporate 9-5 job, my freelance social content creation, & my small bead biz that I started up with my sister during Covid.
It may sound super cliché, but I can honestly say that I put in 100% effort and hard work into every single thing I do. With the world we’re living in now, I feel like everyone’s kind of looking for passive income (which, admittedly, I have definitely considered!) but there’s something really special about working hard and feeling rewarded at the end of the day when all your work pays off.
And of course, I also believe in having a balance and in loving your work too. I genuinely enjoy and love all of the ventures I’ve started for myself and because I’m so passionate about everything, it almost makes it easier to put in the work and makes me want to be even more successful moving forward.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I always talk about my work, and it’s because I have so much pride in where I am today and how I got myself here.
I’m a Marketing Manager @ Condé Nast, currently focused on Beauty and working on Production & Activation of best in-class marketing campaigns – anything from content creation, event activations, influencer programs, social campaigns, print units, and more. I had always dreamed of working at Condé Nast, and after graduating college in 2019, you bet I applied every single week and month (lol). And the persistence paid off because come August 2019, I was suddenly walking into my first day at Condé Nast on their Content Licensing team. Fast forward almost 2 years, and I took the leap of switching teams internally and truly do have my “dream” job now working in marketing for one of the most iconic publishers in the world.
Apart from my 9-5, I also do freelance content creation (mainly Instagram and TikTok). I’ve always been someone who’s loved posting OOTDs and selfies on the ‘gram so naturally, during Covid, I decided to take my socials more seriously. And although I may not have the biggest following, it has definitely bloomed into a great side gig that allows me to be creative and express myself with all of the things I love the most in life – fashion, food, and anything else that catches my eye.
Lastly, my sister and I started up a small beads biz back in April of last year called @thebeadedit_. My sister came up with the idea one day and in 24 hours, we had essentially started a small business – we made the Instagram, got all the supplies, and within our first week we had already made over 50 sales! It was a crazy time, and amidst all the other beads things out there in the market, we really found a niche for custom beaded jewelry. Not only was this a super fun project, but it also was an amazing experience to be able to work with my sister and start up something for ourselves. We have honestly shown The Bead Edit a little less love lately, but as we’re coming up on our 1-year anniversary, we’re planning something special to celebrate ;).
All of this definitely wasn’t easy, and I do attribute some of my success to some strokes of luck – but it all boils down to my work ethic, dedication, & persistence that has made it all possible. Never give up on the things you love, and never let 1 bad day stop you from having a lifetime of good days ahead.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oof, this is such a tough one! I’m going to just list out some of my faves, but for an itinerary I always lean to a day full of good eats. Starting the day off with an iced coffee or bev, heading over to lunch, grabbing a cocktail or wine after and strolling around the city – usually walking around and stumbling into new spots is the best. NYC is crawling with amazing places and the opportunities are literally endless.
EAT//
For sushi – Sushi By M (the best affordable omakase), Kazunori (the best handrolls), Sushi 35 West (another great, affordable sushi spot and perfect for takeout!)
For pasta – L’Artusi, Via Carota, Bar Pitti and I haven’t been able to snag a resy to these places yet, but have heard incredible things about Lilia and Misi
For asian – Congee Village, Hopkee, Peking Duck, Great NY Noodle Town, Nom Wah Tea Parlor
For burgers/sandwiches – Can’t go wrong with Shake Shack, but also Sweet Chick has one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had

For cocktails – The Crown, Angel’s Share, Fig 19, Pineapple Club, Sel Rrose, Double Chicken Please
For coffee – La Colombe (draft latte only), Blank Street Coffee, La Cabra, Café Leon Dore

Other – Thrift Shopping around the city in LES & Brooklyn, Smorgasburg, Chelsea Flea, Union Square Market, Chelsea Market, Broadway in SoHo

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love & support of my family – my mom and my sister are two of the strongest women I know and have taught me everything from being persistent and never giving up to being strong-willed and independent. Growing up, my mom took on multiple jobs to support our family and never once missed a choir concert, theatre play, or awards ceremony. She has always supported me and all of my passions, and single handedly has made me the woman I am today. My older sister has always been #goals to me and inspires me to not only think bigger, but to also be smarter, and frankly, be cooler (but she will always be the coolest!) TLDR; They have both molded me to have a killer work ethic, to never take no for an answer, and to always be humble, at the end of the day.
