We had the good fortune of connecting with Renee Yomtob and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Renee, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
I remember it vividly – I was sitting in an uncomfortable chair, in a chilly hotel ballroom, attending a personal development training, and my eyelids were starting to get heavy, as they tended to do around this time of day as a symptom of my autoimmune disease (Narcolepsy). As my eyes were starting to close, I heard a challenging statistic… 99% of disease is psychosomatic, meaning 99% of diseases start in our mind.

I immediately became defensive, holding onto my Narcolepsy being a real. And then came the single most important decision that has lead to my success in all areas of life…

I realized I could be right, or I could feel better. But I couldn’t have both.

And ever since the day, I’ve live symptom free from Narcolepsy. Which showed me that, if I can be free from something my Doctors told me I would live with forever… What else am I capable of.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My controversial opinion in the industry is that I don’t think you should need me as a coach forever. I coach with clients in an area of life for 6 months, and I teach them the tangible tools to continue the work on their own after that 6 months. I want to empower you to find your own resources, not rely on me for your growth. And because of that, I provide a safe space for you to go deep, as well as challenging you to do the things that will move you toward your goals
.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well my friends and I like to eat and drink coffee – so our days usually start with coffee at Lofty Coffee or Birdrock Coffee Roasters. Then I like to take them to Goodonya in Encinitas, Trilogy in La Jolla, Eddie V’s when we’re wanting some apps and live music. And I’ll always check the line up at BellyUp for some good shows or the Comedy Store if we’re wanting to laugh. In between all of that, I’m taking them to the beach! Windansea is a favorite of mine for sunset and we’ll work our way up the coastal spots and likely end at Moonlight.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow, what an amazing question and opportunity to express gratitude. Aside from my friends and family (obvi), I’d give a big shoutout to my college volleyball coach for putting such an emphasis on mindset during my career there. And I have a lot of gratitude for the training company that challenged my reality and showed me what was possible. I had the opportunity to work for that same training company and run trainings across the US, helping people find their resources. THIS is what led to my passion in becoming a Mindset Coach. The other shoutout would be to my Yoga Teacher, who provides such a grounded energy to teaching how to practice yoga on and off the mat.
