Meet Frankie Krygs | Life Coach, Personal Trainer, & Retreat Program Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Frankie Krygs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frankie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Growing up, my dad always taught me to never make a decision unless it was a sure thing. What I came to realize later down the road, is that sometimes in life you need to take risks in order for you to grow. If you were sure of the outcome it wouldn’t be called a risk, it would be called an opportunity. Even some opportunities aren’t in plain sight, some are beautifully disguised as obstacles, setbacks, and challenges. There is a difference though in the type of risk your taking. Some risks are calculated, and some are unnecessary. The real question then becomes how do you know one from the other? In my time of being alive I can proudly say I’ve made a lot of unnecessary risks and not enough calculated ones to know the difference. It has helped me become the man I am today. It also has helped me walk away from the corporate working world and form my own company during a global pandemic like Covid.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So I moved to San Diego at the end of 2019 for my employer Lifetime Fitness. About 3 months later Covid started, and then about 6 months after that they let me go. I thought I had job security, but clearly such a thing doesn’t exist in today’s world. Instead of busting my a$$ to make someone else rich, I decided why not do the same but for myself. Not too long after I moved do a different location and converted the 2 car garage into a functional gym studio. It is called “KineticKrygs.” Kinetic means something in motion, something continuous like “kinetic energy” and Krygs is my last name. It’s Dutch origin means “to fight.” Combine the 2 together KineticKrygs and it means to keep fighting for the things you want in life, because the moment you stop, the things you don’t want start to take over. It started off with just personal training in person and virtually. But over time it became much more than that. At KineticKrygs we offer services like personal training, life coaching, behavioral therapy, and nutrition coaching. We offer courses that help you to elevate your quality of life physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I say we because this year brought a couple of people on board to help me with the newest branch of the business called “OQP Retreats.” OQP Retreats stands for Only Quality People. It is all about creating a community of like minded people, people that are hungry to learn more, be more, and give more. What sets KineticKrygs apart from is others is that we don’t just focus on the physical aspect of things because we know change must first happen from within for it to happen on the outside. Things didn’t go as smoothly as I had hoped though. The very first month I announced the opening/ reveal of KineticKrygs I got Covid. Just when I was about to announce OQP Retreats my social media was hacked. These are just 2 out of the many challenges we’ve had to face in the last couple of years. If I were to send out a message to the world I would want people to know that whether your working at a job that drains you, are in a relationship that makes you feel alone, aren’t happy with your weight or how you look, or simply want to elevate the quality of your life because you want more and you know you deserve more, then I would say your not alone, and that we are here for you. To serve you, and help you live a life you absolutely love living.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I have my friends come to visit me I always take them to a handful of my favorite places. Usually these places involve food lol. I would take them to see the sunset at Sunset Cliffs in OB. Something about that spot just feels so magical and puts my mind at ease. We would also go to Second Nature to eat. I am a huge fan of their menu being that it’s very healthy an wholesome, plus the atmosphere and stuff are great. Going to the beach either on Crystal Pier or near it never gets old. There’s never a bad time to go to the beach if you ask me. One of the days I would take them for a hike like Potato Chip, El Cajun, Iron Mountain, Three Sisters, or something similar that has a great view. The week would never be complete without a visit my favorite cheat meal spot, Baked Bear. Even though I’m big into fitness and health, I am a cookie whore, which is why Baked Bear always has a special place in my heart.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Above all else, I would like to take a moment to thank God for his grace and blessings upon my life. I want to thank my family for always being there for me and supporting me no matter what I chose to do with my life. All my friends and the people that I met along the way back on the East Coast and here on the West Coast I had the pleasure of getting to know. I also want to thank all my clients who believed in me and trusted me to get them the results they desired. Helping others achieve their goals has made me such a better person and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
