We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesus M. Espinosa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jesus, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Looking back at the last 11 years of my business, I’m happy to say that I’ve stayed true to my WHY and doing so has led to growth and opportunities I could have never imagined.

What should our readers know about your business?
DJ Swish is an event services company that provides DJ services in the form of weddings, nightlife, and private events in San Diego county and throughout the state. With over 11 years of professional DJ experience, I pride myself on mastering the technical ins and outs of DJ’ing to provide a seamless night of entertainment on the dance floor.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a huge fan of Little Italy for food and drinks and the waterfront on Harbor Blvd for the views. Some of my favorite spots in that area include Waterfront Bar & Grill, Kettner Exchange, and Monello. For music, I love Prohibition in Gaslamp for their live music array of Jazz and Blues. The Shout! House is always a great time with their dueling pianos as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I would not be where I am today without the sacrifices and hard work of both of my parents who came to the US with next to nothing. They’ve given up so much to make sure my brother and I got the chance to live a life they could not, and for that I am forever grateful and humbled.

To Bryan, my buddy from high school who gave me the push I needed to start DJ’ing and helped me out at my first event…thanks for getting me over that tipping point and showing support since day one.

To Noli, who knew little about me but got me into my first bar and club events…thanks for taking a shot on me and believing in me to rock those crowds.
