We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqueline Becker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacqueline, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I work in Home Health Physical Therapy, where I enter peoples home to do their care when they are home bound. Usually after that, once able, patients will attend therapy at an out-patient facility. When the pandemic hit, I had multiple patients saying they were comfortable with me coming to their house, but the thought of going to a facility with other patients made them nervous. So, I decided I could start doing out-patient therapy in their homes. It boils down to a different way of billing insurance vs home health, but they were then also received quality care in the safety of their home.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
After graduating from Physical Therapy school, I jumped right into out-patient physical therapy, but also worked per-diem at a hospital to keep my medical/procedural knowledge sharp and growing. From there, I worked in out-patient physical therapy clinics across the country working with mainly seniors, as that became a passion of mine. When I had children, the job of juggling work and childcare became too much, so i switched to home health which offers a much more flexible schedule. This also kept me working with mainly seniors who were coming home from the hospital. Career wise it has always been easy to find a job as a PT, there is always a need. When I started my own company, the struggle was not getting the patients, but having enough time to see them all!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
San Diego has so much to offer. It truly is a fun, diverse and family friendly town. I would make sure we hit up the beach of course, no matter the time of year, eat at restaurants like Crack Shake, and drink at places like Polite Provisions. We would make sure to hit the long list of craft breweries one day, and the urban wineries the next. There is always some kind of farmers market or street fair to see, and my most touristy thing I like to do is Segways down at the harbor. You get to learn about the history of the town, and feel like a kid again.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband is probably the one who deserves the shoutout. When i first started on the plan for independence, it was a lot of late nights, angry phone calls and stressful moments. But through it all he was there to say, “but look you’re doing it!”
