We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Maggy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Like most pet obsessed owners, my personal Instagram was flooded with mostly pictures of Brewski. I had mentioned to my friends and husband that I wanted to create him his own Instagram page but never actually got around to it until the start of the pandemic in April 2020. I had always been interested in social media but little did I know that this massive, wonderful dog community on Instagram even existed. What started as just a fun place to post pictures of my dog has now turned into a place where I have created a community with followers and have met actual friends over the similar interest of our dogs.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our Instagram page is a place where you can come to laugh and be entertained by my goofy, lovable and smart 5 year old Labrador Retriever named Brewski. He is mostly known for his thief tendencies as he loves to “help” with laundry day and by help I mean steal socks out of the laundry basket or drawer. But in all seriousness, starting this page has lead to so many amazing opportunities and we have worked with companies that I would never dream of working with like, Anheuser Busch. Creating content is something that I have grown to love and be passionate about and I hope in the future we can continue to work with amazing small and large businesses.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We absolutely love living in San Diego and love when we are able to bring our friends and family to our favorite spots when they are visiting. We are very fortunate that San Diego is an extremely dog friendly city so Brewski is usually able to tag along. Here is what a day visiting us in San Diego would look like. We would start by grabbing a coffee from Better Buzz and then take Brewski for a walk at either Coronado Tidelands Park or Balboa Park. We would grab lunch at either the Friendly Tavern in North Park or tacos from Tacos el Gordo in Chula Vista. When visiting San Diego catching the sunset at Sunset Cliffs is always a must followed by dinner at either the OB Noodle House Bar 1502 or Cori Pasta.

Some of our other must go to places while visiting San Diego includes, Liberty Station (be sure to stop at Puppy Picnic Co and Leshoob), Coronado Dog Beach, Fiesta Island, Seaport Village and Mount Laguna.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shout out to my husband Brian. He has been so supportive of this idea and is always there when I need help getting Brewski to look at the camera. I would also love to recognize the dog Instagram community as a whole. It’s not always easy as an adult to make friends and through this community I have met so many amazing people both virtually and in person. This community is what keeps me inspired and motivated to continue creating content and posting on our social channels.
