Meet Devan Bonebrake | Golf Academy Owner and TV Personality

We had the good fortune of connecting with Devan Bonebrake and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Devan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was living in Dallas Texas at the time working for one of the all time great golf teaching professionals in history. However, we had a 50/50 split on revenue. Eventually I felt I had learned enough from him to have the confidence to go out on my own. I now had the potential (no guarantee) to keep 100 percent but also scale a business which was never possible before as an employee.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting in 2021 I was fortunate enough to host my own show on the Golf Channel/Golf Pass called The Golf Fix. The initial creation of the show, the structure, segments etc. were so fun to write. Although plenty of work, the freedom to write all 20 episodes allowed me to fully express how I teach and what I wanted to convey to the world. It allowed me to consolidate and organize the last 15 years of information into 25 min episodes. Almost like chapters in a book. This was just the first season of hopefully many to come, and I know the constant search for new, innovative, and entertaining ideas will only make me a better teacher.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My primary mentor Jim McLean gave me a roadmap and the experience and knowledge to get to the pinnacle of our industry. I am no where near that yet, but I can see thus far that following his guidance has worked wonders. One of the biggest lessons he taught me was to never be afraid of hard work, and what You may consider a tough day may be a breeze for someone else. It is all perspective.
