Meet Tunca Pekcan | Musician / Drummer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tunca Pekcan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tunca, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind success is always loving the thing you’re doing. I’ve always expressed myself through music since I was a child , and right now I am just enjoying the moment both on stage and behind drums.

If you enjoy every second in what you are doing , people get that vibe and support you.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been playing drums for over 20 years now. As I am excited every second for playing music , I have a few moments that highlighted my proud too.

One of them was to play at an amphitheater with a huge crowd in Cyprus.
The second one was when Cengiz Baysal accepted me for drum lessons.
And the third one is becoming an endorsed artist.

Being a musician is always a challenge in my opinion. Apart from economical issues , you constantly should improve yourself all the time and sometimes that becomes a mental challenge.
But as in all professions you have bad days and good days, you just need to be organized to overcome it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely take them Kyrenia Harbour to eat and show them Bellapais Abbey in Kyrenia. Famagusta Walled City is a fantastic place that we can both eat drink and enjoy live music as well, Karpaz Golden beach for swim, Sallamis Ruins and Varosha for historical places in Famagusta

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My gratitude starts with my family. They alwas supported me since I was a little child. That support and love continued with my wife and daughter. It is a very powerful thing to be supported no matter what. It encourages people to follow their dreams.

While getting this far , I wasn’t all alone. I always had my band mates from the start. They believed in me , shared the moment with me and most importantly they synced with me.

Then a huge thank you should go to my mentor, my teacher Cengiz Baysal. He has a huge role in my music and I belive he is the best. He’s always been with me when i have a question.

Lastly want to thank two special companies that endorse me and let me in to the family.
