We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexcia Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexcia, do you have a budget? how do you think about personal finances?
Having a budget is a MUST! Managing finances can become a headache at first especially when it comes to start up fees, reserving your business name, and state fees. Quick Books Self Employed is my go to app to help accurately track my finances and its easy to use. I can track my expenses, profit, mileage, invoices, etc so it makes budgeting extremely easy when I can’t afford to sit and calculate everything myself. I’m not going to lie I used to just buy things because I felt I needed them, now I know the importance of financial literacy and building business credit. As I started to understand as a business you want to create more revenue I also learned that sometimes you have to invest in yourself if it helps the growth of the business.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
As an entrepreneur its really easy to lose yourself in your work in the beauty industry. Days tend to run together especially for me balancing being active duty and running my own business because getting off work or underway the time I would set aside for myself I used to end up working anyway. I wouldn’t make time for myself because I felt like I missed out or was behind so I would over work myself to catch up in a sense. Now I have realized that I can’t give my clients a 100% of myself when I am not at my best. I learned that self care is an essential tool being an entrepreneur. You’ll eventually learn that with time comes with experience and that you won’t know everything which is okay.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Thank you Courtney Henderson from Hendo Studios for always believing in me.
