Meet Niccole Rumans | Dog Trainer and Daily Dog Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Niccole Rumans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Niccole, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson my dog training business has taught me is how to differentiate myself from the other competitors and stand out in the market. So narrowing in on a specific niche within the market has helped me fine craft my skills to really make an impression on my client. Because when I impress my client they refer me to others which has helped me keep my business going. So I have also learned to ensure quality of service rather than quantity.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from others is that I am a Navy Veteran who use to be a Military Police K9 Handler. Now that is a very rare job for any woman to have, especially in the military. So I was actually certified by a federal agency to work with dogs, and I was a working dog professional for several years. That knowledge and skill afforded me the ability to start my own dog training company. Starting a business during the pandemic was not easy. I took a big risk with getting myself out there to work with clients at home and their furry companions. But I was able to overcome this by following mask and glove protocols, staying out doors, taking vitamins and ensuring my good health. I learned that following the rules and doing more was crucial for my survival. It may not be fun, it may not be pretty, but all in all it’s actually worth it. What I want the world to know is that there is always more than one chance to achieve what you really want to achieve. I actually wanted to start a dog day care in San Diego 10 years ago. But life circumstances gave me the viewpoint that starting a roaming dog training company was better. I love working with dogs and being able to change their bad behaviors for the better every day, hence, my brand: the Daily Dog Coach.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit me in the area this is how our week would go: Day 1 – Walking around and having lunch at Old Town, at night dinner at Gaslamp
Day 2 – Seaworld of course! (that’s a no brainer)
Day 3 – Play at the beach in Coronado
Day 4 – Visit San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park
Day 5 – Go Paddle Boarding – Dinner Cruise
Day 6 – Relax at the beach – friend picks
Day 7 – Go on a Safari!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout out to my church, the Church of Scientology in San Diego! They have been fully supportive in my efforts to start my own dog training company and have really helped me to flourish and prosper.
