We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Watson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think risk taking has taken a huge role in my life and career. In many ways my life has been an array of risk, sometimes calculating risk, sometimes it was just reckless risk taking when I was younger. But the way I look at risk is, your life really won’t move forward without it to some degree! That’s why the risk taking Is so appealing but can also be so terrifying. Being an independent artist such as myself, every time we release a project it’s a risk because there’s no machine behind us. We’re betting on ourselves and taking that risk every time we drop music

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think I set myself apart from everybody with my art by not following any rapper or artists blue print. I organically developed my style through thousands of hours of practice,so that I never have to try to be someone else I can just be myself. I’m most proud of the tangible progression that I’ve made creating music in the last 2 years. I’ve made a huge jump in quality and just all around music making that you can hear If you go listen to my catalog on Spotify. Nothing about my journey to this point has been easy. I’ve been through a lot of hardship in my life, so music just really started out as my coping mechanism to deal with all that stuff. But eventually it developed into my passion and something that makes me who I am as a person. I want the world to know that my brand 27 Club isn’t about Dying at 27. It’s really about surviving the struggles all those artist that I love and inspired me to create had to endure in their lifetime. The 27 Club brand is really about perseverance and dedication to the creation of art.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Growing up and living in San Diego has been such a blessing being it’s filled so many Dope attractions! So i would take the homie to the San Diego zoo, we would definitely have to hit the wild animal park, and Balboa park. We would definitely go the gas lamp district downtown and hit all the fire Mexican places all round the town, because Lord knows there’s too many good ones to count.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shout out definitely has to go to my best friend, engineer, and manager Sean Dunne without him none of this isn’t even possible! We were able to put our two very different brains together to create something that we both could %100 behind! He really has been the one person who believes in me to make both our dreams come true, that’s my brother and he deserves all the credit I can possibly give him.
