We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Blasen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, how do you think about risk?
I believe we are meant to live our lives taking risks and living in the unknown. Taking risks and living in the unknown go hand in hand. The only moment we truly ever have is the now. Living in the past holds us in depression and if we wake up each day choosing to live in the past we are living in a past state-never able to receive what the the present moment can give us. Living in the future creates anxiety, it doesn’t mean we can’t plan (we should), but living in a state of fear or worry only inhibits us from seeing the beauty and opportunities that are right in front of us. I have been a rebel about living the conventional way, it never appealed to me. I tried to fit the mold for years doing careers that I thought would make my parents happy or help me to fit into society. I always ended up leaving a job or career because I was miserable. I kept learning, switching careers, and diving into my own personal development. When I received my first light bulb moment about my mission/business, it has been a never ending lesson in taking risks, going the opposite uncomfortable path, and living in the unknown. I would recommend it to everyone. It’s not necessarily always easy but you see life for what it truly is meant to be. A constant discovery of who we are, experiencing people and places, and a roller coaster of excitement wondering how the puzzle pieces will come together with whatever you’re pursuing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As an Ascension Life Coach I help individuals create new habits by rewiring subconscious beliefs that are inhibiting them most in their career and life. I work with individuals who are high performing; serious or professional athletes, business professionals, and entrepreneurs. I work with people ages 17-35. The individuals I work with are open-minded, ready to do the work, and desire understanding how they can ascend to new heights physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, and spiritually. People want results and they want ways to achieve those results that are realistically achievable for them in their current state. I know how to ask the right questions to dig deep into a persons life so that we can understand the root cause of their pain(s) in order to create actionable goals that will yield results starting in 30-days. I have a specific system for achieving results, but every persons ‘system’ is customized and we start wherever the client desires and wants to see results first. I am there for them, to hold space, and to take on their goals as mine. I am most excited for this new direction I am headed now. I am limiting the 1:1 clients I take and am focusing on building ‘Asc3nsion Life Coaching Academy’. This will be an accredited life coaching school with 6 levels teaching students the system I’ve used to guide clients in achieving new career rankings and heal past traumas to quit smoking and disorders within months time. I am most excited for combining the school with helping human trafficking survivors. We are still figuring out details but we are building out a program to work with non-profits that will bring awareness to trafficking and empower survivors. The path to where I am today was not easy but it’s also been really fun. Being a former athlete, I understand the desire to want to take control and do everything in my power to get the results I want. Growing up I had to learn how to survive. I had to learn life pretty much on my own which gave me grit, strong will, and survival skills. What was missing and what I had to learn over the years after being an athlete was taken away from me, was balance. I had to learn how to step back and to heal past trauma that I was shoving away for years that were creating limiting beliefs. I’ve learned so many lessons over the years that have gotten me to where I am today but I think the biggest lesson has been learning how to ask for help and to receive. To know that I do not have to live in a state of survival any longer and that I get to receive help from all different ways to help me with my journey. I’ve learned that things do not always have to be hard but actually get to be easy. Life is meant to flow and opportunities arise when we trust and are living in the present moment.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Now, I am usually between LA and NY but when I am back in San Diego I am big food and out-door person. I would take them to my favorite beaches- Windansea and Sunset Cliffs. Hiking we would go to Torrey Pines, Cowles Mountain, and Potato Chip Rock. For food we would go to The Cottage, Herringbone in La Jolla (love the environment), or my favorite burritos at Roberto’s. I love Solana Beach and Del Mar. We could do a casual beach and brew day hitting up Pizza Port, Ballast Point, or Stone. We would definitely do a day in Coronado riding bikes around the island and doing a beach day. We would have a night out enjoying good wine and exploring some of the speakeasy’s like Noble Experiment, Vin De Syrah, or Prohibition. Lastly, we would have a day to enjoy yoga at Corepower or Reach Yoga then grabbing açaí bowls at O.B. Smoothies and maybe try out surfing for the day in OB or PB.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my closest friends, my team, my current and past clients, my partner, my family, and mentors. I would not be where I am today without the support of many people who have been in my life over the years. There have been two mentors in my life who have influenced, guided, and supported me in different parts of my journey. I am so grateful for these two men who supported my ideas, pushed me when I could be doing better, and who always gave advice based upon my best interest. My team, I could not be developing and creating the Academy without them. Together we are creating something great. My current and past clients, without them I wouldn’t be the coach I am today. I owe them so much for believing in me from the beginning and giving me a chance to do what I’ve dreamt of. My partner whose been my rock for years and always encouraged me to never stop, no matter how hard it gets. For always being my mirror and helping me to take the blindfolds off to hold myself accountable and take responsibility so I could show up as the woman I am today. Lastly, the many authors, podcast hosts, doctors, and speakers that I’ve been listening to and studying these past few years. Specifically, Dr. Joe Dispenza whose work has influenced me and opened me up to so many possibilities. Someone I look up to and hope to become my own version of someday.
