Meet Raven Plummer Brown | Travel Advisor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raven Plummer Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raven, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
As a travel advisor, finding balance used to feel impossible. In the beginning, I thought I had to be available 24/7 — answering messages late at night, fixing last-minute issues while on vacation myself, and pretty much working nonstop. I was even at my Dad’s funeral trying to help passengers that missed their connecting flight. I didn’t really have a balance.
Over time, I realized that hustle mentality wasn’t sustainable. Now, I’ve learned to create better boundaries — like setting work hours, giving myself permission to unplug, and not feeling guilty for taking time off. Balance for me isn’t about splitting time evenly; it’s about being present with whatever I’m doing — whether that’s helping a client plan their dream trip or spending quality time with my family.
I’ve found that when I take care of myself, I actually show up better for my clients too. So now, balance looks like giving my best without burning myself out — and remembering that I can’t pour from an empty cup.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
ADRD Travels was born from my deep love for planning, adventure, and creating lasting memories—not just for myself, but for families, couples, and groups who trust me to help bring their dream vacations to life.
What sets me apart is the unique blend of experience I bring to the table. With a professional background in the Aviation Industry, Hospitality, and Customer Service, I understand travel from every angle—from booking and logistics to comfort, care, and client satisfaction. I don’t just book trips—I curate seamless, personalized travel experiences that reflect my clients’ visions and exceed their expectations.
This journey hasn’t been easy. I built my business from the ground up while balancing motherhood, marriage, and personal growth. There were challenges along the way, but giving up was never an option. My success is deeply rooted in the love and support of my family—my mom, my brothers, my husband, and my children—who have always believed in me. And a special shoutout goes to Domica (My Mentor), who gave me that extra push to dream bigger and go harder in my business.
Through it all, I’ve learned that authenticity, consistency, and heart go a long way. I want the world to know that ADRD Travels isn’t just a business—it’s a reflection of joy, connection, and the power of travel to change lives. I’m proud to be the person and professional I am today, and I can’t wait to keep helping others explore the world, one unforgettable trip at a time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting me and my family here in Oceanside, I’d make sure she had a fun, relaxing, and memory-filled week. Here’s how I’d plan the perfect family-friendly trip:
Day 1 – Oceanside Arrival
We’d start with a family brunch at Stratford at the Harbor—great food and waterfront views! After that, we’d walk the Oceanside Pier, watch the surfers, and maybe spot some dolphins. Dinner would be casual and fun at Hello Betty, which has a lively vibe and kid-friendly menu.
Day 2 – Beach + Harbor Fun
Spend the day at Oceanside Beach building sandcastles and soaking in the sun. In the afternoon, rent paddle boats or take a harbor cruise. Dinner at Harbor Fish & Chips or Local Tap House, where both kids and adults can find something they love.
Day 3 – San Diego Zoo + Balboa Park
A big adventure day! We’d head to Balboa Park and explore the museums and gardens before spending the rest of the day at the San Diego Zoo—a must for families. Dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown San Diego is always a win with kids.
Day 4 – Annie’s Canyon Trail + Solana Beach
Time for some family-friendly adventure! We’d hike Annie’s Canyon Trail, which is short, scenic, and fun for all ages. The kids will love going through the narrow slot canyons. Afterward, brunch at Claire’s on Cedros and some light shopping or ice cream in the Cedros Design District.
Day 5 – La Jolla Sea Life Day
We’d explore La Jolla Cove, watch the sea lions, and visit the Birch Aquarium. If everyone’s up for it, we’d try a kid-friendly kayak tour. Picnic lunch by the ocean and a pizza dinner at Regents Pizzeria for a laid-back night.
Day 6 – Carlsbad + Coastal Drive
A relaxing day with a visit to Carlsbad Village—great for shopping, treats, and a stop at the Museum of Making Music. If in season, LEGOLAND is always a fun option! Dinner at Campfire (they have a cool s’mores dessert) before heading back up to Oceanside.
Day 7 – Brunch & Beach Goodbye
We’d finish the trip with brunch at Swami’s Café, a family walk along the Oceanside Strand, and a few last photos at the pier before heading to the airport.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to everyone who’s been part of my journey — not just as a Travel Advisor, but as the woman I am today. My family: my mom, my brothers, my husband, my kids, and to my dad (RIP) — your love and support mean everything. And to Domica, thank you for that extra push that helped me take my business to the next level. Grateful is an understatement.
