We had the good fortune of connecting with Shantal Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shantal, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Over time, Ive come to really understand the importance of maintaining a healthy work life balance not just for my personal well being but also for how I show up for my clients. When I first started out as an Esthetician, I was very focused on building experience and growing my clientele, so I worked long hours and took on as much as I could. While that helped me grow professionally, I realized that taking care of myself outside of work is just as important. Now, I think of balance as creating space for both personal wellness and professional passion. I’m much more intentional with my schedule, making sure I’m rested, staying active, and taking time to recharge. That balance allows me to be fully present and focused with every client, which I think they really appreciate. In a field like aesthetics, where we’re helping people look and feel their best, I believe it’s important that we also prioritize our own wellness to give the best care.

What should our readers know about your business?
I feel like what sets me apart is my relentless commitment authenticity, resilience, and creating real value not just profit in the beauty industry. I didn’t get here by following a traditional path. The journey has been anything but easy, but it’s in the tough moments that I found my purpose and built the foundation of my business. I started with the vision, but no roadmap. Early on, I faced rejection, financial uncertainty, and self-doubt. But every setback became a lesson. I learned to pivot quickly. To build a brand that stands for something bigger than just a product or service. What I’m most proud of is not just the success I have achieved, but how I got here with integrity, community, and heart. I’m excited about the future and many more opportunities, this is just the start.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I were showing someone around San Diego for a week here’s how I’d make it unforgettable!

Day 1: Welcome to San Diego! Start with brunch in Little Italy, then a scenic stroll along Seaport Village. Visiting the Midway museum and cap it off with a sunset dinner.

Day 2: Head to Balboa Park, museums, gardens and culture all in one spot, and you know you can’t miss the San Diego Zoo. For dinner, North Park has amazing local eats and craft beer.

Day 3: It’s a beach day! Spend it in La Jolla or at the tide pools and watching sea lions. Finish with dinner overlooking the ocean.

Day 4: Take a ferry to Coronado Island. Relax on the beach, explore the Hotel del Coronado, and enjoy a laid back lunch. Rent a bike and cruise around the island before heading back.

Day 5: Explore Old Town for history, authentic Mexican food, & a vibrant atmosphere. Then visit Liberty Station for art, food, & local shops.

Day 6: Drive up to Torrey Pines for a morning hike with a breathtaking ocean views. In the afternoon, unwind in Del Mar or Solana Beach, & maybe catch local music in the evening.

Day 7: Spend the final day at Mission Beach, walking on the boardwalk. Rent a bike & enjoy a casual beachside meal before heading home. San Diego really has something for everyone. It has nature, food, culture, & fun. I love curating experiences like this & helping people make the most of their time here!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m especially grateful to my fiancé, who has been incredibly supportive throughout my journey. From driving me to aesthetic conventions to offering feedback on my work, he’s always been by my side. Starting a business requires intense focus, time, and sacrifice, and he’s understood that from the beginning. His unwavering support has meant everything to me, and I truly believe our shared commitment to my business will pay off in the long run.
