Meet Nathan Trucks | Cinematographer & Creative Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathan Trucks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nathan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was that after years working as an assistant camera in IATSE that living a freelance lifestyle of waiting for the phone to ring and for the jobs to come can become exhausting. Then once the jobs do arrive they can be wild cards in the creative industry on working conditions and professionalism. In creating my own production company which also provides “boots on the ground” production services has made it to where I can create my own opportunities to navigate my career more towards my goals and able to create a safe working environment for myself and crew.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We believe that large format is the future of filmmaking and as content creation is on the rise we want to be able to bring that sense of cinematic excellence to our clients. We are working companies to elevate their dramatic branding through cinematic imagery and storytelling. There’s a story in any product and in any property and we want to help share those stories in the biggest way possible. We also continue to work with artists and producers to develop exciting features films and televisions series.
Creating the business has been a very slow process but the most important thing i believe is finding your team who will go through it with you and then we can all succeed in building something together. No one does it alone and collaboration is the greatest gift in the creative field and thats where the magic happens.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend is coming to visit for the week and I’ve got the hosting duties here’s what we would get into. A movie at the Chinese theater is an absolute must. It has held and still does some of the greatest movie showings and the theater is gorgeous. A day at universal studios with backlot tour to get those behind the scenes feel as well as the thrills. A sunset fire at Dockweiler Beach and once the weekend rolls around my favorite food place Nata’s in Sherman Oaks

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to gibe a shoutout to my film instructor Steve Taylor. He dedicated his career to finding the resources his students needed to create real sustainable careers in a very competitive industry.
