Meet Beverly Lindquist | Executive Director & Dance Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Beverly Lindquist and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beverly, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
At Blossom & Bloom Creative Arts, we have 3 core values: Service, Integrity, & Excellence. To me, integrity is the most important because without it, everything else falters.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Blossom & Bloom Creative Arts was built out of a desire for children & families to feel heard, supported, and valued without sacrificing other aspects of their lives. We want to teach artistic values & techniques in a safe, friendly, & nurturing environment with the same high quality you should expect with anyone who has the opportunity to teach children. We teach dance & art in a 100% non-competitive environment with affordability and inclusion as a top priority. That desire informed our decision to become a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization. We have never turned a student away who wanted to take class. ‘
We believe every child is unique & deserves to be celebrated. Like Fred Rogers said, “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” That informs the way we teach, with a child first & play first approach. We’re proud of our young artists’ skills and technique as they grow within the BBCA program, but we are more proud of the confidence & strong sense of self-worth that comes from participating in the creative arts.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego has an abundance of options for a great time in any area you’ve landed in. Hillcrest, South Park, La Mesa, Lakeside, they all have something to offer. A few favorites would be Summers Past Farms, Windansea Beach, Balboa Park, and live music at spots like Whistle Stop, Black Cat, or Tower. We’d definitely stop to eat at Tobey’s 19th Hole, Waterfront, Big Kitchen, or Nate’s Garden Grill.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The strong leaders that I grew up around have shaped who I am and I’m forever grateful to know them & be taught by them. My family has been overwhelmingly supportive and without that level of unwavering support, BBCA would not be thriving the way it is. So while I wish I could say one major group, book, or person was the catalyst for everything, it was truly drops of encouragement all along the way that built up a reservoir that helped me gain the courage to start something of my own to benefit the community.
