We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophia Tahernia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sophia, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Setting a schedule has definitely helped with my work ethic! I currently have 2 jobs, as well as an occasional weekend job, so my schedule does get pretty packed! However, when I am able to compartmentalize my priorities in each role, it makes it easier and more manageable to maximize my creativity.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work for Hype Up Marketing Agency, a marketing agency based out of New Jersey. Since I got hired for the company in February of 2024, I’ve combined my efforts with my CEO, Sarah, to manage one of our clients with their Instagram and Tiktok accounts. At first, I needed a lot of training and a TON of zoom calls to learn the skill sets for running accounts. Through the guidance of Sarah, I’ve been able to manage the account with no questions asked! One of the most rewarding experiences was with my content, we were able to book all 46 homes EACH weekend that we were promoting for Coachella and Stagecoach Festival weekends! It wasn’t always easy, as I was super new to the media world. Figuring out the type of content, knowing what our viewers engage in the most, and what kind of posts to make were all things I learned with time. Being patient by far has been the most helpful, and giving myself the grace to learn and not be perfect at all times. I want the world to know about my story to understand the importance of believing in yourself and to find the right mentors. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
OMG, I LOVE this question! Obviously, I’d take them to La Jolla Cove and Sunset Cliffs. Those beaches are MUST sees. I love the La Valencia hotel, all the pink just sets the mood, and the drinks are so great! I also love Cafe Coyote in Old Town; It was my holy grail in college (I went to UC San Diego for reference). Kate Sessions Park is a necessity to visit, and grab some Better Buzz while you’re in the Pacific Beach area! If you can get to downtown San Diego, going to Padres games has always been fun for me, even if they lose a bunch…

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my success to my powerhouse of a manager, Sarah. She believed in me from day 1 of starting my interning role a year ago, and now has promoted twice since! She has endless amounts of knowledge and is consistently there for me, through any questions I’ve had, and is always supportive of my goal with her agency!
I also want to thank my mom! She is effortlessly kind and caring, and I miss her so much every day.
