We had the good fortune of connecting with Caleb Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caleb, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We have worked with elite athletes at the highest level, but it is the children that are struggling right now. With anxiety, depression and even suicide on the rise in our middle school and high school aged kids, we felt we had a calling to step in. Through athletics we can help these children know there worth and learn to value themselves.

Our programs encompass physical‬‭ conditioning, skill development,‬
‭ and mental fortitude. We focus on building foundational skills while integrating advanced‬
‭ techniques to prepare athletes for high-level competition.‬ This prepares them to excel in more than just athletics. It is a new way for these young people to look at their futures. We want them to see themselves as people that will run companies, be great husbands/wives and mothers/fathers. To see the world around them as a launching pad, not a stumbling block.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
One Family Athletics (OFA) is a leading speed, agility, and endurance training program, serving athletes at the club, professional, collegiate, and youth levels. We are committed to innovation, creating training techniques that seamlessly transition to the field. Our philanthropic mission focuses on developing communities through athletic training and our character development program, EDGE (Empower, Develop, Grow, Excel).

EDGE equips athletes with essential life skills such as self-talk, emotional regulation, and gratitude, addressing common gaps in self-awareness, values, and decision-making. Many student-athletes struggle due to a lack of proper leadership and support, which is where we step in.

OFA’s programs provide the training and resources needed for athletes to excel both on and off the field. We’ve spent the past three years building our presence and impact, overcoming challenges along the way. Though the journey hasn’t been easy, our mission remains rewarding and essential.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If it’s spring or summer, a visit to Petco Park for a Padres game is a must. Arriving a few hours early gives you time to explore some great local spots around the stadium, offering a variety of cravings to satisfy.

For a fun night out, the Shout House dueling piano bar is an unforgettable experience—nothing beats the entertainment there!

You can’t miss a day at Mission Beach. If you go early on a Saturday morning, you’ll even catch One Family Athletics trainers working with youth athletes on the sand.

If your friend is bringing the whole family, a trip to Balboa Park to explore its museums is a great way to spend the day. Be sure to check out the Fleet Science Center and catch a show at the Giant Dome Theatre.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Greg Howard is the driving force behind the success of One Family Athletics. As both the visionary and the catalyst behind our mission, he has transformed an idea into a powerful movement that has positively impacted thousands of youth. Greg developed a comprehensive character development curriculum and an advanced training program, which work seamlessly together to maximize the effectiveness of our time with the children, ensuring lasting impact.
