Meet Sativa Minerva | Artist & Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sativa Minerva and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sativa, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I choose the creative career to create lol. As a creative you need to be free to express yourself and your art however you see best represents it in that moment. As a free spirit, being a professional creative gives me the freedom to work anywhere in the world and move as I please. I also found music to be the way to reach the masses and really be of true positive influence.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from other artist is I don’t sound or look like anyone else already mainstream. On top of that my context is different. I can get very deep or be fun and sexy. I’m proud to be recognized as a versatile artist. Being able to write for myself is one thing but being able to write with and for other artist in all different genres is what gets me in bigger rooms.
When I look back to how I arrived here I can see the stepping stones I took to get here. They all start with taking a leap of faith. Once you jump and move around enough and keep trying different things until you find the thing that works.
It was easy for me to up and leave the states I lived in because I knew it was going to be a better outcome. It was hard to leave my family and friends. It was hard to start over again. You either overcome your challenges or you quit. I’ve had a lot of trials and errors but I never in my heart quit. Sometimes it just takes slowing down and taking life one step and one day at a time.
I learned to go all in on what you really want. Once I decided to do that my life started changing and my dreams were closer to reach.
I just want the world to stay inspired. That’s it. Stay inspired and go after what you want. Have a kind and grateful spirit and watch how opportunities unfold for you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’re starting the week in San Diego and hitting up the beaches for sunsets. We’re going to OB’s farmer’s market snagging all kinds of food and heading to the cliffs for another sunset. Might check out a show at the Rady Shell after a morning of hiking. We’ll have drinks and dinner by the water in seaport village or Point Loma. We’ll go to La Jolla Cove and see the seals and spend a night in the Gaslamp district. For Friday or Saturday we’ll go up to LA to go to Andy’s in WeHo because I’ve been dying to go since they opened. We’ll probably go to Universal Studios and a few other places while we’re there. I like an itinerary with space for spontaneity.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely have a few great people in my corner who met me where I was at and accepted me for me. This one in particular guided me into my own lane and encouraged me to trust my intuition music wise. He’s introduced me to a network of crazy talented individuals who have had a huge impact on my growth since being involved in the creative space community. He’s as solid as they come professionally and personally. Shout out to Phillip Bailey aka Hookmonger. Shoutout to my Creative Space family. Shoutout to the late great J. Hatch watching over us from above.
