Meet Jane Robles | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jane Robles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jane, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is putting God first. When I tried doing things on my own and relied on myself, it was a mess. I have started and quit so many things for various reasons. I have always been a determined person, but when it got tough I self sabotaged a lot. I went through some hard times mentally when I was working full time at my office job. I have given my all to every job I’ve had while they all sucked the life out of me. When things got really bad, I really leaned on my faith. While it brought me peace after all the tough decisions I had to make, I feel like God also gave me clear vision for what I truly wanted for my life. I started to focus on what I loved to do and just kept doing more of it. That feeling of not wanting to sleep because your mind is constantly creating. I began working longer hours but I was happier. There is no better feeling than being able to control your time and your money, and be a present parent. I feel like my happiness and excitement really is represented in everything I create for my clients and they feel it all too. My kids keep me constantly motivated, especially on the days I do feel overwhelmed and lost. They remind me to not sweat the small things.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always loved photography. I had one of the first chunky digital cameras in high school. I was always that girl behind the camera. That girl people would bug constantly to “send the photos!”. My passion for documenting photos for people that they will cherish forever became an addiction really. I loved seeing people excited for their photos. ESPECIALLY when they are surprised I captured them so beautifully. I love collecting these stories of why they booked a session and how much it makes them happy. I have also always been a very artistic creative person. Who knew that my outlet would be my set ups I do for my sessions. I did not know I needed that creative outlet to enjoy my work even more. I did not think people would love them as much as I do, so it’s always such an honor. It was not easy getting where I am today. I didn’t just pick up a camera and created success overnight. As a photographer, you are constantly questioning if your work is good enough. You tend to compare a lot and again, self sabotage. I decided one day to stop doing that. I was going to do what worked for me (and my family), what made me happy, and truly enjoy what I do. When I started to just focus on my own business, I began enjoying being on social media again. I began to share a little more of myself and my family. I began to connect with clients, and created the greatest friendships online. When it comes to my brand, I want people to know there is a human behind the lens. She’s a mom of 3 beautiful kids, and a wife to her high school sweetheart. She isn’t perfect but she could be your favorite person. She is passionate about her business, and her family, and she loves Jesus.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my gosh. SO many favorites in San Diego. I am sure I’ll miss so much. In no particular order, if they are here for a week, definitely all the beautiful beaches (La Jolla, Torrey pines, and Coronado are my fav!), Balboa Park is a must. Squeeze it in no matter what. Seaport village is also another beautiful spot, then Coronado ferry landing for lunch. They would 100% hang out with my crazy family because they are the funnest and funniest people in my life. Too many places to eat, but fitting a Cali Burrito, Tacos el Gordo, and Laotian food somewhere.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I cannot thank my right hand man (literally), my husband enough. From day 1 when I decided to take this leap of faith, he has always been there to help make it happen. I call him my unpaid employee lol. He truly is my calm, When my head is spinning and when I truly feel alone in my thoughts, he is always there to snap me out of it. He is the one carrying, building, making, almost everything for me. I just think of the crazy ideas. Even then, he is the one making my life so much easier. I tend to overthink and overcomplicate everything when it comes to designs and building. He is my go to guy for everything. Balancing his own full-time job, our 3 kids, and my photography schedule can be insane, but he really has a “no problem” attitude every single time. I honestly do not know what I would do without him.
Above all our hard work and sleepless nights, I still have to thank God for every single thing and person He has brought into my life. Seriously, without Him, we’d have nothing.
