We had the good fortune of connecting with A. Marie Dingwall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi A. Marie, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
While I was born in America, I am the child of Caribbean immigrants. Therefore, I grew up between cultures. That experience has helped me to understand and be empathetic with others who feel like they aren’t one group but also not quite another or who don’t feel they belong where they are. Yes, I can connect with immigrants or children of immigrants, but also those that are neurodivergent and never feel comfortable with neurotypicals or the Deaf that never quite fit in with their hearing family. I want everyone to feel that, on some level, they are heard and understood.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am most proud of my adaptability at &Marie Solutions. A fellow systems strategist called me “systems agnostic” once, and while funny, it’s a key to what sets me apart. There is no one solution or app or type of software that I lean into; I can work with whatever helps the client to succeed. My workflow solutions are customized to fit varying needs and budgets. I meet my clients wherever they’re at currently, and that sort of flexibility can’t be found just anywhere.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Since I started as a virtual assistant, I found the resources and mentoring from Joanne Munro at the VA Handbook to be invaluable. She’s clear and accessible, not a gatekeeper, and and all around pleasant person. Her community has done a lot to help me keep going and figure out my next moves.
