We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Wolter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is keeping a positive mindset. Running your own business has a lot of ups and downs and it’s so important to stay positive in order to stay motivated to move forward, even when things get hard. AND, a positive person naturally attracts people which helps as you try to build your client base.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own a home inspection company that I started a little over 3 years ago. There is a fair amount of competition in this industry, as well as a very difficult real estate market over the past 2 years. And, despite this, we were able to triple our business in 2024 and expand our team. Our customer service and ability to communicate effectively is what sets us apart. We go above and beyond in every transaction, and are always there to support the clients needs. I believe our service is unmatched in our industry.

It was not easy to get to where we are today. Starting this business, I was woefully unaware of the amount of marketing and networking required to create a successful business. I thought I could just be a great home inspector, but that was not the case. It took time and truthfully, a lot of grit and hustle to build the relationships and client base I have today.

Coming from an accounting background (I was a CPA and CFO of a small company), I was used to being behind a desk, not out networking. As a naturally shy person, I found going out and meeting people in a social setting to be extremely difficult. This is where shifting my mindset became very helpful. Once I was able to do that, business became easier.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
San Diego has so many great places to offer. One of my favorite places to go and stroll the streets to view beautiful houses is Bird Rock. The architecture is absolutely amazing. Mission Hills is also great for this. I’m in love with the wide, soft sand beaches of Solana beach and Del Mar. Solana Beach and Del Mar are both great places as there are many restaurants and coffee shops to try as well (Lofty Coffee and Better Buzz are some of the greats in the beach area). SouthPark has my favorite cheesesteak place, Giorginos and some amazing, cool old houses to stroll through and look at. Plus Balboa Park is always a favorite. There are beautiful hikes out east – my favorite being Mt. Woodson (Potato Chip Rock) from Poway Lake. It’s gorgeous!

For food, you can’t miss Tacos El Gordo, Bahn Thai, Fort Oak, Campfire, Catania, Himitsu, Shan Xi Magic Kitchen, Diamond Palace for Dim Sum, and Richard walkers Pancake House. There are so many great places (I am a HUGE foodie) to eat, and these are some of my favs!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are two very important people that were keys in my journey to success. The first is my life partner. Without his 100% support, this journey would have been much more difficult. Never once did he question whether I could do it, and provided his full support the entire time, even when our income was cut down to 1/4 of what it once was while I built this business.

The second person is my business coach and friend, Corryn Kivett. Without her and her mindset training and coaching, I would not be where I am today. Changing my mindset and using NLP practices has been pivotal to my success, and I owe much of that to her.
