We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel & Lynne Tate and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel & Lynne, how does your business help the community?
We’re honored to help people celebrate life’s most treasured moments, creating joyful memories that last a lifetime. As a small, locally-rooted San Diego business, we take pride in partnering with our vibrant community, supporting fellow local businesses and industry friends. As a married, queer-owned business, we’re passionate about inspiring young queer women who aspire to join this industry or pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. We’re here to show that there’s a place for everyone to shine, love, and create magic in the world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Tate Collective was born from a shared passion between us. We are not only partners in life but also in business. We both come from creative and communications backgrounds, with Lynne having over 15 years of experience in graphic design, sales, and event production, while Rachel specializes in marketing and advertising. Together, we saw an opportunity to combine our skills and love for creating memorable experiences, leading us to launch our own event design company in Southern California.

What sets us apart is our personal approach. We pride ourselves on treating every event as if we were planning it for a close friend, investing time to understand our clients’ unique stories and preferences. We focus on the fine details and have a true passion for celebration. Whether it’s an intimate gathering or a grand celebration, our goal is to create beautiful, personalized environments that leave lasting impressions.

Our journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been filled with learning moments that shaped who we are today. We’ve built our company on strong connections within the SoCal area, and overcoming challenges has taught us resilience and the importance of trust. We’re most proud of the relationships we’ve cultivated with our clients, who know they can rely on us to bring their vision to life seamlessly.

At the heart of Tate Collective is a commitment to celebration, creativity, and connection. We want the world to know that when you work with us, you’re not just hiring an event company; you’re gaining a team that genuinely cares about making your moments unforgettable.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Start your day with a visit to La Jolla to see the playful seals, then head to Windansea Beach for some sunbathing and relaxation. Grab a sunset drink at the Hotel Del—it’s the ideal way to soak in the stunning SoCal views. Then grab dinner and enjoy refreshing spritzes at Vincenzo’s in Little Italy—our absolute favorite spot for delicious Italian food. When you’re ready to hit the town, make your way to Parq Nightclub for a fun night of dancing. For those who love live music by the ocean, don’t miss the house music sets at Beachhouse.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
From day one, our friends and family have surrounded us with unwavering support, and we couldn’t be more grateful. We’re especially lucky to have the guidance of Kalika Moquin and Kristy Rumsey, two inspiring veterans in the entertainment and hospitality industry. Their mentorship and example mean the world to us, and we’re so thankful to learn from them as we grow.
