Meet Loren Burton | Pipeliner & Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Loren Burton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Loren, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to be the change, I wanted people to feel seen when they wear our clothing.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Im just a retired criminal!

All jokes aside my upbringing was interesting to say the least, I grew up in a abusive home, physically, mentally and emotionally I was broken.

After a few rough years and a long term “vacation” I was released back into civilization and decided to make a change.

I was given an opportunity to get on the pipeline and work in the trades and to my surprise and everyone else’s I thrived, I fit right in to the rough “Blue Collar ” industry.

I started on the pipeline in 2012 and put in the blood, sweat and tears to make myself an asset to the company I worked for at the time.

In 2014 I got this wild idea that I wanted to start a company, I wanted to do something more with myself, I wanted to have something I could leave behind for my children.
I tossed around a few ideas, started trying to figure out what I wanted my clothing company to be about.
As time went on I became so invoked with my career on the pipeline that I forgot about my dream to start my own clothing line.

Fast forward to 2023, I was now a Superintendant on the pipeline, my career had thrived and I was finally in a top leadership position and loving life…..but something was missing still, well I remembered my dream, I remembered that I wanted to do something more with myself besides working on the pipeline.

So we came up with the name “Bastard Clothing Company”
it was based off of two things,
1- I was born a bastard so the name fit
2- my social media name is BurtonBastard and I represent mental health and motivational speaking on my pages…. ive created a place for all the “Bastards” of the world to have a home and feel safe and seen.

now here we are in 2024 and we’ve definitely learned a lot, we’ve grow over time and realized that putting out efforts into quality over quantity is key!
We’ve learned that keeping clear communication and making sure we provide excellent customer service goes a long way!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say I would take them to the mountains, take them to the snow, that’s some of the most peaceful places I could find that helps clear my mind all while enjoying the scenery and being outdoor.
maybe try and find a golf course too lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife, she’s been there for me since day one.
through all the highs and lows she’s never lost faith in me and when times were dark she was the only one to stand behind me and help me push past my limits.
