Meet Boris Amado | Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Boris Amado and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Boris, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
It’s a risky business taking a risk in any type of business, but there is no reward without the risk. And the thing is that you have to be 100% on the risk you’re taking. No hesitating and no doubting yourself, because the moment you doubt yourself, you slowly begin to sink underwater. Like Peter, when walking on water. Stepping out of the boat was a risky thing to do, but we wouldn’t know about it unless he did it. So I advise everyone to take that risk. Whatever the risk it is, as long as it’s for good for you or to better yourself, do it! Jump into the abyss. At least you can say you tried.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My passion and my profession is writing. I’ve been writing for film and television for almost a decade now, but my recent endeavor has been writing a book called “Jesus Wept: the friendship of Jesus and Lazarus”.
It’s a fictional book based on biblical characters.
I wanted to try something different than my usual sci-fi, animated, cartoon scripts, so I wrote about the missing years of Jesus, but the story is told through the eyes of his best friend Lazarus.
I still love writing film scripts, but I’m currently in love with the book writing process.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here in San Diego? I would take anyone who is visiting to Little Italy. I absolutely love little Italy, and Balboa Park too.
Balboa Park is amazing. There are so many spots here in San Diego that, singling out one or two local spots is really hard to do. La Jolla is amazing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to the love of my life, the artist, DeeDee Reed. She is my muse and my encouragement to every day be a better human. I wouldn’t be where I am now without her.
