Meet Arianna Towns | Dog Trainer and K9 Handler

We had the good fortune of connecting with Arianna Towns and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arianna, what principle do you value most?
Integrity.. Staying authentic to what you say that you are or will do is critically important to me. I am an open book, and I live very authentically. In my work, I let clients know from the get-go that I am human, and therefore imperfect. I give folks the utmost grace and understanding whenever I can, since I know that there are times that I also need to ask for grace. If I’ve dropped the ball, I appreciate when someone brings that to my attention so that I can go about trying to be better. There is so much in the world that I don’t know, why act like I know it all only to be made a fool down the road when I know better?
My background is in working with individuals who have developmental disabilities, struggle with mental health, or are autistic. I value the authenticity that many people within those demographics bring, for the better or worse. I find that same value in the transparency that animals bring into their relationships with us, and I try to foster an appreciation for this in my clients as well.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have recently opened Kyber K9 Services, to provide dog training and professional K9 security services to the people of Southern California. I aim to provide training to help owners with the confidence that their dogs really ARE just as amazing as each of us believes our dogs to be, and how to help our dogs show that side of them to everyone wherever you may go. Every client that I take on, I seek to establish a genuine connection with, because we aren’t simply being contracted for a singular service… training is a lifelong journey, full of unexpected victories as well as struggles. I am candid that I don’t know the answers to everything, but I love the owners who are willing to share their experiences with their dogs so that we can get through it together! I’ve learned that unfortunately within the dog training industry, true authenticity and genuine care for clients is something that has become a rarity. The industry is so saturated that everyone seems obsessed with how to set themselves apart with the newest cutting edge technique or program offering, when what will really set you apart is providing simple services to clients that you actually want to work with. I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, and I won’t be the right fit for everyone… but several of the people I’ve worked with over the years have become great friends!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love San Diego with all my heart, so some of the places that I would take a friend visiting town would be the ones that showcase everything our city can be. I would HAVE to take them to Balboa Park to walk from the fountain to the California tower, as well as along the shoreline at Seaport Village and the Midway. I just love how much of the people of the city you get to see in places like those. You see street performers showcasing their talents, families enjoying their time together in the sunshine, people sharing their time with their canine companions, and people working in their own small businesses to share their crafts and labors of love. There’s just something beautiful about that to me! As far as food, there’s nothing that beats grabbing some tacos or a California burrito and heading out to the beach to enjoy a bite with your toes in the sand. I know, it’s the classic tourist spots, but they’ve got charm and appeal for a reason! I bet you thought the dog trainer would have more dog-centered answers, didn’t you?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to some of the wonderful people that I have had the opportunity to have become friends with throughout the years as a result of being in the dog training industry. I have learned SO much from several other trainers in the area, and some others whom have since relocated to provide their services to other areas of the country. There are too many to name, but I would like to highlight Kristin, Noelle, and Taylor who each have stood by me in support, and are always ready to lend a listening ear when I have something I need counsel on, or to simply bask in the celebrations of achievements that we each have made throughout our time of knowing one another. Each of these fantastic women is a wealth of knowledge, yet epitomizes humbleness and an unquenchable desire to learn new information and push to evolve into the best trainers, and people, that they can be. I’ve lived so many places, and had so many friends, but very few who I respect as deeply as I do these ladies!
