Meet Lynda Bergh Herring | Licensed Private Investigator, speaker, and children’s advocate.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lynda Bergh Herring and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lynda Bergh, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My profession is private investigations. While I do conduct many types of investigation, my focus is on children’s safety, specifically educating parents, teachers, faith-based leaders, children and young adults regarding how to not only identify predators online, but avoid falling victim to their manipulation and exploitation. Much of my work pertaining to children’s safety has been done pro bono (free of charge), although I do charge for cellular forensics and missing adult cases. I believe my business helps the community when it comes to raising awareness of the epidemic known as sextortion and ultimately protecting children.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed private investigator and qualified manager. I have been working in the investigation industry for 42 years and licensed for 28. I worked for me original employer and mentor for many years before going out on my own, partly due to her being the best boss ever, and partly because i wanted to amass as much training and experience as I could before I ventured out. Being self-employed is not easy, especially as a solo-preneur; however, I wouldn’t want it any other way. I love what I do and I have no plans to retire at any time. I have overcome the challenges I’ve faced, which have included fighting cancer and some pretty evil individuals, through perseverance and tenacity. I genuinely care about my clients and treat them with compassion and concern, as opposed to seeing them just a “paycheck”. I’m tenacious and I never give up or quit. The investigations I conduct can be routine and quick, and others are extremely complex and may takes years to complete. It’s something different every day and I love that!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmm … great questions! Since I’m in south Orange County, we would have to visit Joe’s Italian Restaurant in Ladera Ranch for some chicken marsala and his famous chocolate cake. So good! Aside from eating, there’s always the beach, shopping at assorted malls and centers, Roger’s Gardens for lunch and beautiful surroundings, perhaps hiking some of the local trails, or listening to local bands and getting some dancing in. There is a LOT of everything here.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If it weren’t for my mentor, Nancy Poss-Hatchl (deceased) of Helios Investigations, I would not be a private investigator. She saw something in me many years (42) ago and hired me. More recently, I must give credit to Opal Singleton with MillionKids.org. She has inspired, encouraged, and given me many opportunities to present workshops and educational summits regarding keeping children safe.
