Hi Twana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The decision to start my own real estate agent business was not one made lightly. Transitioning from a stable W2 career in Construction and Engineering to the uncertainty of full-time real estate, with its 100% commission-based structure, was undoubtedly daunting. Yet, my wife and I had been laying the groundwork for this transition since 2014 when we began investing in real estate as a means to secure long-term financial freedom.

Our journey into real estate investing opened our eyes to the potential and benefits of the industry, particularly in a vibrant market like San Diego. We saw real estate as a pathway to financial security and flexibility, freeing us from the constraints of traditional employment and providing us with the autonomy to shape our own futures. The prospect of building generational wealth and creating a legacy of financial independence was exhilarating.

What truly excited me about diving into real estate full time was the opportunity to work with individuals who shared our mindset and aspirations. I wanted to leverage my expertise to help others secure their financial futures, just as my wife and I were striving to do. The chance to have a direct impact on people’s lives, guiding them towards their own path to financial freedom, was incredibly fulfilling.

Unlike my previous role in construction, where I often felt disconnected from the end result and lacked a sense of fulfillment, real estate offered me the chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of others. Every transaction became an opportunity not just to close a deal, but to empower individuals to take control of their financial destinies. It’s this sense of purpose and fulfillment that continues to drive me forward in my real estate journey, fueling my passion for helping others achieve their goals.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What truly sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to fostering enduring relationships with my clients, guiding them towards building generational wealth and fundamentally transforming their financial trajectories. Renowned for my dedication to enabling San Diegans to achieve affordable living through the concept of “house hacking,” I specialize in empowering individuals to leverage real estate investments strategically. House hacking encompasses various strategies, such as acquiring properties with granny flats or Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), where occupants can reside in one unit while renting out the other to mitigate mortgage expenses. Additionally, clients may opt for duplexes, triplexes, or fourplexes, residing in one unit while generating rental income from the remaining units, oftentimes covering the entirety or a significant portion of their mortgage payments. Despite the prevailing notion of San Diego’s high living costs, many of my clients experience either rent-free living or substantial mortgage offsets through these innovative methods.

My fervent dedication to making a positive impact on individuals’ lives through real estate has propelled my success within the industry in a remarkably brief timeframe. Drawing from my personal experiences as an investor, I intimately understand the transformative power of real estate in wealth accumulation. I am deeply passionate about sharing this knowledge and expertise, cultivating a community of real estate enthusiasts, and assisting seasoned investors in expanding their portfolios. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love coffee, california burritos and the outdoors. If I were to have a friend in town to show around I’d start the day early with a cup of coffee at either Lofty Coffee or James Coffee, both of which are located in Little Italy. Then we’d head over to Torrey Pines preserve for an incredible scenic hike. After working up an appetite on the hike, we’d head over to The Taco Stand in La Jolla and grab California Burritos to go to eat at the Gliderport while watching the paragliders takeoff and land

The afternoon would be spent first grabbing another round of coffee, this time at Communal Coffee then exploring Balboa Park, home to museums, gardens, and cultural attractions. Visit the San Diego Zoo, stroll through the Botanical Building, or admire the Spanish Colonial Revival architecture

The evening would be spent at gaslamp taking a stroll down 5th and checking out some live performances and ending the night with one of the many great steakhouse options nearby.
