Meet Jessica Daylover | Digital media producer, entertainer, & educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Daylover and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor behind the success of my brand is actually my ADHD — over the last 20 years I’ve learned so many different skills, which all play a role in my branding. First of all, I’m a charismatic, flamboyant storyteller, entertainer, and educator. This makes the content that I capture on my platform, Remodeled Love, engaging and interesting. On top of that, I’m also a proficient digital media producer and educator, so not only am I the on-screen talent, I’m also the producer, director, and editor behind it. I’m truly a one-woman show, a Jester of all trades. Not only does this make my brand interesting, it also quite literally makes it EFFICIENT; I’ve been able to generate and churn out so many things with less effort than most.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My main business is actually called Homeslice Productions–it’s the production company under which I create everything inside my imagination. In the last 16 years that has included: live comedy (including Reno’s legendary comedy family, The Utility Players), murder mysteries, game shows, corporate entertainment, voice over work, event production, casting, creative consulting, team-building workshops, and most recently, Remodeled Love.
When the pandemic hit, my entire industry (mostly live entertainment and production) died completely. At the time my biggest success was an original game show that was booking large music festivals. It looked like that was the direction my career was heading in. But I had always had the idea of starting a social media platform to educate folks about polyamory, especially at the intersection of parenting, on the backburner. I just never had time to get to it.
But with my previous industry dead, and at home with nowhere to go in 2020, I decided to launch Remodeled Love, whose mission is to “expand the cultural narrative on healthy relationships, polyamory, family, and love”. It has since become my most successful, and global, endeavour. It has actually allowed me to walk away from live entertainment for the time being while I raise my young kids. Not only do I make way more money, I do it without having to collaborate with anyone else, and I rarely even have to leave my house. It’s also deeply meaningful work.
And don’t get me wrong, I LOVE collaboration. I love it so much I never wanted to venture off onto my own. So not only do I appreciate the way Remodeled Love has pushed me to realize I’m capable of being a one-woman show, it’s also just a lot less stressful, there’s significantly less overhead, and just in general less moving parts, and therefore less draining as a working mom.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I live in Reno, so the first must-see is absolutely Lake Tahoe, no matter the season. However, if it is summer, then we are absolutely doing a beach day at the north side of the lake at Kings Beach and having dinner at this locals spot called La Mexicana.
In Reno we must absolutely check out the art museum and walk along the Truckee River and have coffee at The Hub. In summer we can even float on tubes from Tahoe to Reno and drink the whole way with floating coolers.
In July Reno is Artown, with amazing, world-class art happening all over the city all day long, most of it free and in parks!
Oftentimes non-locals want to experience the casinos, and if we’ve got kids with us, the GSR is the way to go with classy restaurants, a year-round heated pool and hot tubs, and all kinds of crazy fun inside, like bowling, a movie theater, and an arcade/play place.
Since Reno is Burning Man central, there’s just always a lot of fun, cool art to see and events to experience, despite being a very small city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my village (my husband, my boyfriend, my meta, all my chosen family, and my kiddos). So much of my success is not just because they allow me to capture our story and share it with the masses, but also because they keep my sane with the haters are hatin’. It’s really hard being an on-line person whose platform is extremely vulnerable, but my village makes it possible.
