We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Cvetic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started Citrus Aesthetics med spa in Mission Valley with a mission to redefine the approach to aesthetic medicine. I wanted to create a space where clients feel empowered and educated about their treatment options. By dedicating extended appointment times to education, I ensure that Citrus clients are able to make informed and comfortable decisions about their aesthetic journey that is always in their best interest. Additionally at Citrus, I focus on creating a relaxing, rejuvenating, and client-centered experience that prioritizes the individual needs of each client. Each person’s face and goals are unique, so I intricately combine the art of aesthetic medicine with my competence as a highly trained PA with a Masters Degree in medicine to give personalized and natural results. By continually investing in international training with leading aesthetic injectors, as a solo provider med spa I can deliver the most natural, efficacious, and safe results possible. Ultimately, by starting Citrus Aesthetics I have achieved my mission of providing a transformative experience through world-class aesthetic treatments that helps clients build confidence and allows them to look and feel their absolute best, while building true and genuine client relationships. My passion is making people happy and I’m so grateful to do that every day at Citrus!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Citrus, I offer a fresh and natural approach to aesthetic medicine, focusing on personalized care, genuine client relationships, and natural results that build confidence—one Citrus treatment at a time. I specialize in non-surgical aesthetic treatments including microneedling for wrinkle reduction, Neurotoxin treatments including Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Jeuveau and Daxxify for wrinkle prevention, Sculptra and Radiesse biostimulators for collagen production, MINT thread lifts for instant non-surgical face lifting, medical grade peels for sunspots and so much more! I have a full high-quality, medical grade skin care line called the Citrus Skincare Line, available on my website, which addresses skin concerns and helps get your skin in the best health. At Citrus, I choose to use only the highest quality and evidence-based product companies like Galderma, Allergen, Revance, Revanesse, Benev, MERZ, Skin Pen and VI Peel to get my clients the best aesthetic results. What sets me apart is my dedication to providing exceptional results and experiences for my clients, where they feel empowered and valued every step of the way.
My journey at Citrus has been a mix of struggles and triumphs. Initially, I took out my retirement savings to fund the start of Citrus, facing the challenge of building a client base from scratch. I immersed myself in the community, spreading the word about Citrus at local events like Civita Park Farmers Market and Kensington Small Business Association gatherings. Through genuine conversations and exceptional client experiences, word of mouth began to spread about Citrus as a trusted and competent aesthetic provider.
Despite facing days with minimal clients at the beginning, I was committed to delivering outstanding results and experiences. I invested countless hours into improving my techniques and client interactions, even traveling long distances for specialized training. For example, a 22-hour journey to Switzerland for a 12-hour training session was just one instance of my dedication to refining my skills.
As Citrus grew, I balanced being a mom, wife, friend, and full-time urgent care worker with the responsibilities of owning and operating a successful MedSpa. The transition from short appointment times to dedicating more time for education and personalized care was essential in realizing my vision for Citrus. I wanted to ensure each client received the attention and results they deserved.
Now, Citrus has evolved into a highly reputable and sustainable model. With a fully booked schedule and a growing reputation, I am excited to expand the Citrus mission nationally and internationally through franchising. My goal is to empower both clients and solo providers by offering them the opportunity to experience the Citrus difference and build confidence through aesthetic medicine.
Through mentorship, training, and direct guidance, I am committed to supporting Citrus franchisees in upholding our standards of exceptional care and genuine relationships. I am proud of how far I’ve come and excited for the future as I continue to spread the Citrus ethos of refreshment, rejuvenation, and confidence.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a day trip with my best friend in San Diego, we’d kick off the morning with a stroll along the boardwalk at Mission Beach, enjoying the ocean views and lively atmosphere. Afterward, we’d grab coffee and croissants at Olive Cafe to fuel up for the day ahead.
Feeling adventurous, we’d rent surfboards and wetsuits to catch some waves before changing into dry clothes and renting bikes to cruise down the boardwalk.
For lunch, we’d dine at Brigantine Seafood and Oyster Bar at Seaport Village, savoring a light meal and a glass of wine by the waterfront. Then, we’d take a small boat to Coronado Island.On Coronado Island, we’d explore the shops and treat ourselves to gelato at Coronado Del. With a blanket in hand, we’d relax on the beach, watching the waves, seagulls and soaking up the sun (with of course wearing SPF 50).
As the day winds down, we’d catch the small boat back to downtown San Diego and head to Sunset Cliffs for a hike, taking in the breathtaking views of the sunset over the ocean.
After freshening up, we’d dine at Mr. A’s rooftop restaurant, enjoying a gourmet meal with stunning city views.To end the day, we’d ride on a lit up guided bike through downtown San Diego, immersing ourselves in the bustling nightlife before heading home, filled with memories of a perfect day trip.

As the owner of Citrus Aesthetics, I am profoundly grateful for the incredible mentors and educators in the field of aesthetic medicine who have generously shared their techniques, knowledge, and wisdom with me. Without their guidance and support, I wouldn’t be the aesthetic provider I am today.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Shino Bay, Julie Horne, Dr. Gideon Kwok, Dr. TJ Tsay, Julie Bass Kaplan, Dr. Tim Pearce, Dr. Amanda Holden, Katie Martin, and Bonnie Wright and many others. Furthermore, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my husband of 15 years. He is not only my best friend but also my biggest supporter. He is a stay-at-home dad to our two beautiful daughters and has unwaveringly believed in my passion and dream of opening Citrus Aesthetics. It has taken countless sleepless nights, immeasurable sacrifices, and an incredible amount of commitment, and yet he has stood by me every step of the way, helping to make my dream of providing unique and excellent aesthetic medicine care through Citrus a reality (along with picking up the slack of doing laundry, cooking family meals, cleaning and so much more!)
