We had the good fortune of connecting with Nehal Tenany Mewani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nehal, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Authenticity. When I started my Instagram account, it was a highlight reel of the best moments of my life, like many others do. It’s physically and mentally impossible to only be having “good times”. It wasn’t until I found my voice on TikTok where I started being vulnerable and sharing the hard truths of various aspects of my life. That’s when I started to see people engaging and resonating with my content, resonating with me and my brand. From that moment on, I told myself I would be 100% myself all the time – the good, bad, the ugly to stay true to myself. That’s how I’ve built a community and how I hope to carry my brand forward.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My brand didn’t develop overnight. When I was in high school, my dad told me I had a knack for marketing because it was a time of the rise of the social media era and I couldn’t stop creating and experimenting with content. I had no idea what marketing was and eventually ended up going to college for it.

Right as I got into college, I found a passion for sharing life updates and giving advice on things like dating, fashion, beauty, lifestyle. Thus began the birth of NehalTenany.com, a blog that offered a roundtrip ticket into my life.

Slowly the blog turned into an Instagram following to a podcast called, That Desi Spark, to a TikTok following to just me finding a true love for all things pop culture, entertainment, reality tv, media, and beyond.

It took many years for my brand to evolve and find my “true calling” but I feel like I’m finally in it.

The best part of having created this brand over the last 10 years is that I can kind of go anywhere with it because people know me as the entertainment girlie but they also know Nehal. Nehal the one who just got married, Nehal who is South Asian, Nehal who just traveled to a new destination, Nehal who is juggling life like any late-twenties girl.

I just want to share my life experiences with the world so that people can learn from it, relate to it, or straight up feel like they’re a part of it because I have so much love to give.

As I step into the next phase of my life with being a married woman – I’m excited to share all the ups and downs with all of these new changes.

Also in tangent with all the career changes happening – I love working in tech marketing so much but I also love creating content and seeing where things go there.

I recently just started a radio show with iHeartRadio Media and Rukus Avenue Radio called No Filter Nehal where folks will get an unfiltered look into all things entertainment and slices of my life.

And I’m just so excited to see where things go from here and how I can continuously challenge myself and foster a community.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a big shoutout to two of my biggest fans – my sister, Richa Tenany and husband, Naveen Mewani.

These two have pushed me to create content and share parts of myself on social media that I never thought I would have. They make me feel invincible because I know that no matter what happens, I’ll always have their unwavering support and unconditional love. They’re my biggest hype people, always encouraging me to do more and chase my dreams.

I like to call them my board of directors because every time I have a new idea, I have to run it by them. Thank you for being in my life!
