We had the good fortune of connecting with Court Moves and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Court, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work life balance is always shifting, and doing exactly what a balance tries to do, balance. I am able to notice the changes/shifts usually when I notice my interests shift. I can be all in on work tasks because the work flow has lightened enough for me to start cleaning and reorganizing systems, which excites me. Then there are times, I’m struggling to open the car door with my arms full of yarn to crochet and create new projects. Thankfully I’ve learned to notice that when I start to feel restrictions or my flow stifled, I switch to either work or personal life, depending on what’s jammed at the moment.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a host, I’ve been able to lean into a natural superpower of showcasing others in a way that allows them to be relatable and connecting to others. The biggest challenge I face is the whispers of doubt that like to enter my mind from time to time, that challenges my self-confidence when I meet extraordinary people. This is where I have to remind myself that comparison can be the thief of joy, and that just the way I am nervous or doubtful at times, others are too.

I would like others to truly understand, that when emotions feel too big for us to cope or manage, we are not alone. There are too many people on this earth to feel completely isolated in the terms of no one knowing something about how you’re feeling. That thought alone is what allowed me to move through dark days, and strengthen my resilence against bad days that feel like a lifetime.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First I’d request for them to visit sometime either in July or September. In no particular order here are the things to do.

Right at sunrise drive north up the PCH to watch the Sun rise behind us and shine on the ocean as it chases the darkness away. I love the summers on the West coast because the weather all day is perfect for ANYTHING! Then heads towards Oxnard State beach to actually see what being at a beach feels like with not a lot of people, and it feels super secluded but open at the same time.

HIking, there’s no way we are knocking out at least three different trails, and if we have time, we’ll drive down to San Diego for a trail there too!

Palm Springs – Windmills, Desert Energy and a short trip to Josua Tree

Let’s Eat – Ventura blvd. Yes, you can go to the city or some well known place, but the sheer amount of diversity residing on Ventura Blvd in general is INSANE!

Shop – Topanga Canyon, just go there. Toooo many options to appease all tastes.

Music – Highland Park, Echo Park, Little Tokyo 🙂

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely, Lauren Morrison, my life coach. She is incredibly sharp, strategic, and motivating to help me and others navigate their next big goals and how to attain them.
