We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenna Han and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenna, what is the most important factor behind your success?

At Bulletproof Bodywork, my focus is on quality rather than quantity. I treat each client as an individual with unique needs, uniquely tailoring every session into a unique experience. My athletic background in figure skating, golf, and powerlifting has deepened my understanding of sports-related injuries. Alongside having a husband working in physical therapy, the mentorship I received from him developed my craft further. Lastly, I attribute the success of my business to my loyal clients who support me through word-of-mouth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Bulletproof Bodywork specializes in massage therapy, where you can experience the ultimate in wellness and recovery. What sets me apart from others is I’ve worked in multiple settings that have helped me develop a deeper understanding of the human body. Some of my experiences include hospital-based massage at UCSD Health, luxury spas and an acupuncture clinic. Upon graduating, I sought to work with professional and casual athletes to treat general orthopedic conditions. I had a lot of influence from my husband, who worked in the physical therapy field. I gained valuable mentorship in hands-on techniques, body mechanics, and prevalent orthopedic injuries.

I get excited when I receive feedback from my clients! I feel like a proud mama bear when a client is able to hit his/her new PR, experiencing increased energy, improved mobility, and overall enhancement..

The thought of opening my own practice did not initially cross my mind, but as a product of my work, I developed a following of loyal clients and patients who were looking to continue working with me.

Reaching my current position has entailed a deliberate journey of self-discovery and understanding my limitations. I realized that sustaining the business requires prioritizing my well-being. Bulletproof Bodywork is an extension of myself, and its continuity relies on my own physical and mental well-being. I have found the perfect work-life balance that works for me. Making sure that I am able to deliver optimal performance for each client without getting fatigued.

At Bulletproof Bodywork, every session is uniquely crafted to meet your needs, ensuring a one-of-a-kind experience. Whether it’s rejuvenation, energy, relaxation, or recovery you seek, your well-being and happiness are my top priorities.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend were in town, I would definitely take them to Balboa Park. We’d explore the Japanese Friendship Garden during cherry blossom season and experience December nights in winter. We could visit Old Town for margaritas, go for a walk at Chollas Lake, and explore the coastal beauty of Sunset Cliff, La Jolla Cove or Torrey Pines. Other activities could include kayaking or paddle boarding at La Jolla or Mission Bay, enjoying a day with our dogs at OB Dog Beach, exploring Liberty Station, and visiting Sea World, the zoo, and safari park. We might also check out Hotel Del Coronado, have a picnic at Kate Session Park, play disc golf at Morley Field, and visit Seaport Village at night to explore its charming shops.

For foodie adventurers, the options are plentiful! Starting with brunch, I would take them to Palmy’s in PB, Madi in Normal Heights, Sugar and Scribe or The Cottage in La Jolla. For lunch, The Henry in Coronado, Crudo Cevicheria in Downtown, Harumama in La Jolla, Bazille or Din Tai Fung at UTC are excellent choices. Comes dinner, options include Huntress, Born and Raised, Anime in Downtown, Cesarina in OB, tacos from Tacos el Gordo or Korean BBQ. Finally, for drinks, the Lafayette Hotel, Raised by Wolves, 52 Remedies, Polite Provisions, and Kamon would be my choices! I can keep the list going but I’ll stop here haha

I’m mostly drawn to anything that has to do with nature and peaceful moments. Finding new hiking trails, going on solo picnics, watching the sunsets with my dog Nala, finding new coffee shops and visiting plant stores are my ways of healing & recharging.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shout-out to my husband & a few of my dearest friends. My husband has been my number one supporter since day one of the massage therapy program at PCOM. I am grateful for his unconditional love, support and trust. Also, I want to thank Dr. Xin from Xin’s acupuncture & wellness, Dr. Jillian from Bonita Vista Acupuncture, James from Altered Hues and Christine Brown for their love & support. If it wasn’t for them, Bulletproof Bodywork would not have grown as much as it did.
