Meet Sandro Costa | Audio & Lighting engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandro Costa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sandro, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
There always seemed to be a need for local, affordable, quality audio & light production in the Bay Area for local live bands & artists for a lot of venues. Most bands either don’t have or didn’t want to invest tens of thousands of dollars into purchasing audio & lighting for their events and most likely also didn’t want to spend years of schooling in audio engineering.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
One of the items that I think really sets us truly apart from other small business audio production companies is the experience of being a professional musician sitting behind the Audio console. You have some truly brilliant audio engineers out there, but if they don’t understand what the musicians are looking for on stage, and what they want to hear, it’s sometimes difficult to understand that without having that musical background. We also pride ourselves in attention to detail throughout the entire night of the event. Every song is different, every vocalist is going to express himself or herself differently with that microphone, it’s my job to make not only the Musician feel confident and sing with emotion, but having the audience feeling captivated in the moment and feel the music.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Music venues are always a highlight in my travels. Spending time with family and friends at these and wonderful restaurants is always a highlight. Some really good Portuguese, or even Italian food is always on my mind. Love going out to the coast and spending some time out there just soaking in the environment, listening to the ocean is always so therapeutic for the soul.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom & dad have always been big supporters of my musical talents as well as my audio engineering desires. My wife and daughters have also been big supporters as well and I really couldn’t ask for a better support system than all of them at my side. I think it also goes without saying that ALL the bands and artists I have worked with throughout the years also deserve a lot of recognition and love. They trust me every time they hit the stage, knowing that they get my 110% dedication and attention at every show.
