Meet Myeisha Essex | Marketing Guru, Wellness Advocate & Purpose Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Myeisha Essex and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Myeisha, how does your business help the community?
Essex Media Group is a boutique agency that focuses on 3 main pillars: purpose coaching, marketing, and event planning in the wellness space. I spent the first decade of my career in entertainment news, and when I started Essex Media Group it was with the intention of helping people elevate and find true peace and fulfillment.
I am known as The Sacred Purpose Coach and I’m dedicated to assisting my clients in connecting to their higher selves, letting go of unfulfilling jobs and pursuing their soul’s calling. Through 1:1 coaching, retreats, and mindfulness experiences, I assist people in finding their true calling and make bold career transitions, like I did.
On the marketing side of Essex Media Group, I teach my clients how to align themselves with the energy and emotions that drive their customers’ most profitable behaviors.
I am also known for creating safe spaces for people of color to deepen their meditation practice. I manage and travel with Zentola and The Sound Bowlettes, the first mindfulness experience of its kind. Zentola and The Sound Bowlettes tour hosting mindfulness experiences with the intention of healing globally through the power of meditation, breathwork and sound.
Essex Media Group produced its first wellness festival, the 1st Annual Black Sound Healer Summit, in Los Angeles in October.
Before launching my agency, I soared as a journalist, producer, and digital strategist for some of today’s most well-known brands. I’ve worked as Head of Social on the marketing team for sleep and meditation app Calm; senior editor at Entertainment Tonight; and managing editor of The Shade Room. I also served as the social media strategist on season one of The Jennifer Hudson Show and senior digital producer at The Real daytime talk show. My work as an editor and writer can be found in ESSENCE magazine, on BlackLove.com, and on CBS News.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I like to think of my work as a combination of life, career and spiritual coaching. I assist people in finding their true calling, and leaving behind the days of simply working for a paycheck — because purpose supersedes that.
I guide my clients on a path toward soul-fulfilling work. Why? Because all time is spiritual! We must use our time with complete awareness because you will never again get this time back.
Transitioning into purpose work can be challenging and even intimidating at times, especially if you have to step away from your 9-to-5. However, as a coach, I guide my clients in staying in spiritual alignment as they navigate through this oh-so-worth-it transition!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Merkato Ethiopian Restaurant on Fairfax is my go-to spot. Especially as someone who doesn’t eat meat, I have plenty of veggie options there. Plus, it’s a complete cultural experience as soon as you walk in the door. High-vibrational food and people. 10 stars!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout Queen Afua. Her book, Sacred Woman, was monumental in my personal healing journey. Through this book, I found the courage to step out as an entrepreneur and pursue my true calling. She’s one of my personal teachers and gave me the tools.
