We had the good fortune of connecting with Tawd Dorenfeld and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tawd, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to give real opportunities to the neurodiverse population to conceptualize, create, and share their own stories and ideas. In order to deliver such, I was prepared after 30 years of independent writing, directing, and animating to give these able individuals the tricks of the trade in order for them to complete a project without the obstacles of not knowing how.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career has been based on new ideas. Not new as in inventions, but new ways of communicating ideas, specifically through the language of fiction via film, books, and audio. I have always taken a reflective position in my work, but not so reflective as myself but as the idea itself and that holistic way of being the art has allowed the ups to be as exciting as the downs.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Detroit. You have never seen this before, never. Never has a city of such majesticness become so distraught, and within that desperation a new form of majestic beauty took the form of ruins and now from those ruins a phoenix that is becoming as beautiful as it started. We have a saying here, “Say good things about Detroit,” – because you really have to see it to believe it. Detroit is paradise in the Mid-west.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My own mentor and now one of the leading mentors at Tink Tank Animate, Douglas Freel.
