We had the good fortune of connecting with L Chin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi L, how does your business help the community?
I run a monthly sticker club where my subscribers receive a personal letter, a tarot reading and an exclusive sticker I designed. I aim for sustainability and often use recycled paper when putting these letters together.
I’m able to connect with those in my community while using up-cycled and repurposed materials to create personalized pieces of art.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Not enough people know about punch-needle! Punch-needle is the manual way to make yarn art like wall hangings, rugs, etc.
This “manual” process of creating is the part that makes my work unique. I have more freedom with the tool I use, versus using an automatic tufting gun.
I challenge myself with every piece I complete, learning new techniques along the way. I’m still learning, and it feels like I’ll never stop learning about this craft of mine. That’s one of my favorite things about it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s plenty to do! If I had to pick a few places I wanted to take my loved ones to, I’d probably show them:
-Birch Aquarium in La Jolla
-Moo Time! in Coronado
-Strawberry Picking and Flower fields in Carlsbad
-Rooftop Cinema in Downtown
