Meet Erisa Nicole | Musical Artist/Saxophonist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erisa Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erisa, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
God is definitely the center of my happiness. I am a Christian and the source of my happiness comes from God. Aside from God music has definitely brought a lot of happiness over the years. From an early age music has been a very expressive outlet for me. I started playing the piano at an early age and music has been my expressive place and my place of happiness for quite some time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey as a saxophonist has not been easy but I will say the journey has been very rewarding. I have worked extremely hard to make it to where I am and the hard work continues on a daily basis. One may believe it only takes hard work to make dreams come true, however, I believe passion and dedication are equally important to make dreams come to pass.
Along my journey I have had to overcome many health challenges that could have prevented me from playing my saxophone, however, I had to learn that my health is a priority and taking care of myself comes first. In 2017 my life was turned around for the worse and I almost lost my life due to sepsis, pneumonia, a very low blood count, and Lupus. My life was forever changed after that very frightening time. Therefore, I had to ensure I was giving my body the best substance in order to thrive. So, I became vegan and I am proud to say I am still vegan.
While on my musical and life journey I have learned that life is definitely precious and everyday we wake up is definitely a blessing. I have learned to “seize the day” and live in every moment like it is my last. The way in which I play my music affords me the opportunity to play in front of many people from all walks of life. I believe I was created to spread love, joy, and hope through every note I play. I believe I have a responsibility to encourage and inspire others through my music. I never want to walk away from a concert, show, or musical opportunity and not make an impact on someone’s life. I will continue my musical journey while touching lives one note at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
San Diego is America’s finest city! There are so many amazing sights to see and the views are absolutely breathtaking. A week long trip in San Diego would consist of the following places:
– Sunset Cliffs (right before sunset of course)
– La Jolla Shores (take a walk along the beach)
– Cafe Gratitude (my favorite vegan spot)
– Stella Jean’s Ice Cream (the best vegan ice cream in America)
– Rady’s Shell San Diego Symphony Concert Venue (Catch a concert- the sound is breathtaking)
– Greater Life Church (Pastor Nate Stewart- to hear an awesome sermon)
– Trader Joe’s (to explore and find what vegan options are new)
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely have to thank God for where I am on my musical journey. I am nothing without out Him. Aside from God, my family has been a great support for me. My Mom and my Dad presented many great musical opportunities such as paying for private lessons, taking me to concerts, and ensuring I had the best saxophone and saxophone equipment at all times. My oldest brother Bethovan as well as my Husband have always encouraged me to be original and to showcase my musical talent even when others did not want me to share my musical talents. My brother and my husband helped me to produce and record my very first album and I have kept going since then. My husband continues to support me and assist me with my shows and he is the man behind all of my social media content. My sisters have been a great support as well and they have encouraged me to continue to carry out my musical dreams. I am very grateful for my family and many others who support and encourage me to keep going higher.
