Meet Jaime | Psychic Medium, Reiki Master Teacher & Talk Show Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaime and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaime, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work life balance has always been an issue for me. I have always been motivated in my career. At 16 I got a part time job at Fuddruckers. I couldn’t wait to move up in the company, which I did quickly. As soon as I turned twenty-one, I was handed keys and welcomed to my management position. This was true for every job I held. My goal was to get to the top of as fast as I could.
When I started Shades Of Spirit, I had the same motivation and drive as I did working for other companies. I would work the day job and grow my business. I have three kids and by this time everyone was old enough to see how much I was gone during the day and weekends. This was emotionally and mentally draining. I found myself in the “guilt” energy. I finally fully embraced my gifts. I wanted to create a space where I could connect people, but I just couldn’t find the balance my heart and soul needed. This went on for a few years. I was constantly plagued with guilt. I was growing my business by leaps and bounds, but I was missing something, balance. In 2020 I found myself in a position where I no longer had the day job. My focus was Shades Of Spirit and my family. When I got over the fear of not having the day job things started to fall into place. I started to find my balance and reprioritize my goals. I was able to spend more time with my children and work from home with my business. I went into contract with Transformation Talk Radio and accepted all the opportunities coming at me with open arms.
Don’t get me wrong. It hasn’t been all roses and butterflies since 2020. I still find myself falling into that pattern. This January 2023 I surrendered my control issues over to my spirit team and angels. In this process I found myself feeling free. I finally figured out how to regain balance.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been connecting with spirit since the age of 5. I started my business in 2017. It was tough because this type of business wasn’t taken seriously by a lot of people. Some of those ghost shows on TV twisted the truth and made those of us who have gifts and good intentions look like fools. Unfortunately, with all the social media out there right now we are seeing this happen again. I come up with new and creative ways to explain what I do and how I help my clients. I was hiding in plain sight for many years. I grow my business from referrals. If it wasn’t for my clients and word of mouth, I wouldn’t be here today.
Shades Of Spirit LLC was founded in 2020 as the pandemic was taking over. It has gone through many facelifts and upgrades as I continued to expand my gifts through classes. What sets me apart from others? I do a variety of spiritual sessions. I believe the more we know and understand the better we can connect with the other side. My first rule is, I must be genuine and do this from my heart. I will only surround myself with those who do this in the same space. When the time is right to pursue something and you’re doing it in a space of love and light it just flows.
I give psychic, angelic, and mediumship readings. I am a practicing Reiki Master Teacher. I love numerology and crystal energy. I am a paranormal investigator. I teach workshops on numerous topics. I find this field fascinating due to its entire relationship with energy. I have a radio talk show called “Shades Of Spirit” on Transformation Talk Radio. This is then edited into podcast form and broadcasted over 50 platforms. I have clients all around the world.
I want you the world to know that I do this from a place of authenticity. I am grateful every day for the work I get to do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When it comes to fun experiences for me it generally focuses on spiritual stuff. If I had a friend in from out of town for a week we would first go to Old Town San Diego. Not only does it have some of the best Mexican food, but the history of the area is intense. We would first go to Mexican Cafe where you can get fresh, handmade tortillas. I love the green pozole. As we have a margarita and eat dinner, we would look at the Whaley House across the street to see if we can see anything in the windows. After dinner we would go purchase tickets to the Whaley House for their last tour of the evening. As a sensitive I open-up to the energy of the environment and let spirit kick in.
The next day we would head down to the coast where you can refresh your energy at the Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens in Encinitas. This is one of my favorite places to go unwind, ground my energy and connect to Mother Nature. There are fun alcoves where you can sit in meditation listening to the waves crash against the shore. Dinner at the Poseidon out on their patio watching the sunset into the waves. A nice relaxing day.
We would take a trip to Carlsbad, CA where there are multiple metaphysical shops and great food. You can spend the day shopping, maybe get a reading from one of their readers, enjoy great food and finish at the beach.
I would call a few mutual friends, grab the paranormal equipment and head to Hunter Steakhouse in Oceanside. It is allegedly inhabited by spirits. We frequent this restaurant several times a year with great success. This area is said to be sitting on an old cemetery. It is said that this was a burial site for early settlers from 1880’s to about 1952.
A must here in San Diego is a trip to Coronado, specifically the Hotel Del. Here is another location where myself as well as my family had paranormal experiences. This would be our guilty pleasure because we would book a room for the evening. I love their bar area downstairs which leads to the sand and the food is wonderful. You can hear the ocean waves and catch some evidence of the ghost Kate Morgan walking the halls.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am extremely grateful for those who have encouraged me. Supported me and joined me on this journey, I want to first thank my kids for supporting me as I continue to grow Shades Of Spirit. They help me set up for workshops, make copies, support me at my live events, work fairs, glue 100 candle wicks into candle holders, and most importantly loved me for me.
Secondly, I would like to thank my students, clients, Shades Of Spirit supporters, and Transformation Talk Radio for believing in me and my gifts all these years. If it wasn’t for all of you there would be no Shades Of Spirit. I am eternally grateful.
Third, I would like to thank Jodi Suboor. Jodi was the first one I called when it was time for me to do professional reading for clients. I wanted to practice in a safe environment with like-minded friends. She opened her home for me multiple weekends so I could fine tune my mediumship readings. Jodi, has written a beautiful book called “Healing You With Love, A Journey of Resilience, Joy and Empowerment.” It is a profound book on how we keep moving forward in the most difficult times. Check it out on Amazon.
Fourth, I would like to thank LaShawn Butler, (Luminous Path With Love). LaShawn approached Shades Of Spirit with open arms and demanded she be the first “protege.” Shades took her on as an apprentice who wanted to understand her gifts and help others. She now owns her own business and is thriving. LaShawn is my side kick at fairs, Facebook Lives, guest hosts on Transformation Talk Radio, and most importantly family. Her genuine and sincere nature shows in the work she does.
Lastly, I want to thank Spiritwalker Nicole. If it wasn’t for your persistence, non-gentle nudges, and uncanny sense of humor I wouldn’t be where I am today. You cheered me on when I almost gave up. You picked me up off the floor at my lowest. You support my wild and crazy ideas. You remind me why I do this and keep me connected. I appreciate you.
