Meet Lauren Griffith | Yoga Instructor and Tarot Reader

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Creating rituals has been the biggest game changer for me when it comes to setting myself up for success. In the past, I would roll out of bed, rush to get ready and then jump right into the hustle of a 9-5 job without having done anything for myself prior to interacting with everyone. I am always saying, “You can’t pour from an empty cup,” and when I started filling my cup before my work day started I noticed a huge shift. I started creating morning rituals that allowed me to ground myself and set intentions for my day. By doing this, I felt that I was energetically and mentally in a better space before I started giving away all of my energy. These morning rituals don’t have to be huge things either. I will wake up and journal or at least do a brain dump to everything out of my head and onto a piece of paper. Then I will pull a few tarot or oracle cards for myself to energetically check in. Then I will do some breathing and set my intention for the day. On days that I have more time I will extend this ritual to include more things like gentle yoga and coffee. The take away isn’t to do all the things but a few things that will help you feel centered and supported before you go off to support others.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is called Celestial Curves and I am an online yoga instructor and tarot reader. I help others navigate through life’s celestial curves while embracing their own celestial curves. I started Celestial Curves as a way to combine the embodied practice of yoga with the intuitive practice of tarot. Both compliment the other so well and really work hand in hand. Yoga being the beautiful holistic practice that it is, combines the elements of the physical, the energetic, the mental and the spiritual. Yoga allows one to drop fully into their body and to understand what all of the sensations and cues are trying to communicate and challenges us to reach a more intuitive and enlightened state. Tarot is a practice that teaches one to trust themselves completely and to tap into their own energy and the energy of others. Combined, yoga and tarot make a really beautiful intuitive practice.
I like to think that what sets my business apart from others is my body and my message. I don’t look like a traditional yoga teacher. I’m a plus-sized, curvy person taking up space unapologetically. Being in a larger body has informed everything I do and how I show up and it has really pushed me to make sure that my offerings and the spaces that I am creating are as inclusive and empowering as possible. In addition to my 200 hours of yoga teacher training, I also completed a 65 hour trauma-informed training. I am constantly promoting body positivity and body neutrality and making sure that everyone feels empowered in the skin that they are in. I am really proud of myself for being vulnerable enough to show up authentically as I am and to encourage others to do the same.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that there is no one right linear path to creating a business. You could do everything “right” based off of the books you’ve read, the podcasts you’ve listened to, or what your mentor shares but at the end of the day things are going to unfold in their own divine timing and only you will know what is truly best for yourself. Trusting yourself and your methods is a game changer! Seriously, throw out the rule book that tells you how many times you need to post a day on social media to build a following or how to push sales. Your people will find you when they are supposed to find you and they will love you for who you are! It’s also important to remember to keep being consistent for yourself even when you don’t think you moving forward or seeing success. When you can show up for yourself, you are building trust within yourself and strengthening a relationship with yourself that will support you in the long run.
If I had to share anything about my brand and my story, I would want people to know that sometimes we have to hit rock bottom so that we can be cracked open. When we are cracked open, we can begin to let our light shine through. My personal story consists of a lot of moments that have broken me. Only in retrospect could I see that those moments were cracking me open to become the person I am today who can show up and hold space for others. Those moments of pain have allowed me to be more empathetic and loving with my community and have inspired me to help others feel magical and empowered.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m currently living in San Antonio and there are endless things to do here! Of course, we would have to visit the riverwalk downtown. Not only is it gorgeous but there is so much delicious food. We would have to take a little boat tour on the river, get some margaritas and then make our way over to the Mexican Market and get something from Mi Tierra’s bakery.
I also love the Japanese Tea Garden in San Antonio. It is stunning- so many picture perfect views. And to stick on the nature theme, I’d also take my friend to the Botanical Gardens.
We would definitely need to check out some of the many beer gardens and wineries. There are so many to choose from that have a great atmosphere with live music. If you drive a little ways out to Fredericksburg you can check out wine country.
I’d also take my friend to downtown Boerne, which is north of the city. It’s a super cute historic town with lots of tiny shops and restaurants. So many great places for coffee, drinks and shopping- plus my favorite crystal shop is in Boerne, Of A Muse!
And finally if my friend was okay with another slightly longer drive, I’d take them out to the city of Gruene and eat at the Gristmill. It has an incredible history, great food and is beautiful. It is also right next to the oldest music hall in TX where you can check out more live music and do some dancing.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Where do I even begin? My list of shoutouts is so long. I feel like first and foremost I have to give a shoutout to two of my favorite authors, Rebecca Campbell and Lisa Lister, who’s books were so life changing for me when I was first embarked on my spiritual journey to finding myself and embracing my intuitive gifts. I also have to give a shoutout to Ishita @clairvoyanthealerishita, who has been supporting me on my journey since 2018. She’s provided so much healing and energetic support through her readings in addition to her mentorship container. I’d also like to give a shoutout to Krista, Trasina, Jessie, and Caitlyn all of whom have shared their heart and souls with me and held space for me to be the most authentic version of myself throughout various stages of my journey.
