Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?

Artists and creatives face innumerable challenges given that their career path often doesn’t come with a playbook, a steady paycheck or any form of safety net. It’s definitely not easy and so we asked a few of the artists and creatives we admire to talk to us about why they chose to pursue an artistic or creative career.

I’ve always been a pretty creative person I’ve always liked to make art and express myself. When I started college I was an art major and that’s when I decided to become a rapper. Collectively, we weren’t fans of the notion that you have to move into an entertainment hub such as New York or Los Angeles in order to be successful within the entertainment industry. This inspired us to want to help cultivate our local scene, as well as uplift local talent. Artists are often pressured to compromise their vision, and we wanted to offer a space for them to remain true to their voice, while having access to the industry-standard tools and support.
