We had the good fortune of connecting with Ray and Manuel Miranda-Vizcaino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ray and Manuel, alright, so let’s kick it off with a deep question: what’s the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
We believe the most important lesson we have learned along our journey is to be true to ourselves and style as well. For us it’s about creating custom items for our clients. We try not to be like everyone else because we believe we each have our own style and that helps us stand out.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We both grew up in the kitchen with our families. Our grandmothers, mothers and aunts all passed us down with traditions and one of those was that food brought everyone together. From that moment we believed that baking helped create special memories for everyone. Going through culinary school was one of our biggest challenges and learning what we specialized in and how we could grow from it. From that point on it was how could we make ourselves stand out from what everyone was doing. What made us special? What makes our baked goods different from everyone else? In the end we found our style to be different And our creativity in being able to bring back childhood memories through our baked goods is what made us stand out. Our biggest accomplishments which have reminded us that all of our hard work has paid off is being featured multiple times on the Food Network. Being showcased has shown people more of who we are and what our values and creativity for the baking community consist of. Wining of course has helped us along the way as well. Being able to compete on the reboot of FoodNetwork Challenge and winning as a team was a big success for us. Growing up this was the show that started it all and doing it not only as co-owner’s but as husbands as well was a big dream for us. We want the world to know that you should dream big and never feel like you can’t make your own mark in this world. We are all different and can bring something different to this world. Never stop believing in yourself.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Well some of the best places we would recommend to check out? Hmmm that’s a long list but our highly recommend places would be Cafe Coyote in Old Town, Sugar and Scribe Bakery in La Jolla, Officine Buona Forchetta in Liberty Station. So many shops and amazing places to explore within these areas. Definitely take them to San Diego Zoo. It’s one of our favorite places to visit and you can always make it a two day trip. Also a great time time visit is downtown San Diego and the convention center. Such amazing places to see and explore as well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Both our families The Miranda’s and The Vizcaino’s have been a big support and help to us. They have always been here for us and continue to support us. To our loyal customers that continue to support us throughout the years. We are grateful to have been part of their special days.
