Meet Yumaira Muro | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yumaira Muro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yumaira, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I really wanted first and foremost to enjoy being a mom. I wanted to have the free time to enjoy every stage that my kids went through. Be able to take them to school and just be fully present to the best of my ability. That is when I decided to start something of my own, and photography was something I loved. I enjoyed the creativity and the way that we can express ourselves through photos. I worked full time at a hospital for 10 years and did photography on the side for sometime until it slowly gave me the ability to leave my hospital job of 10 years and fully focus on my business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I can truly say creating a business of my own has definitely not been easy. Photography has become extremely competitive in the last few years and you truly have to believe that your work is something that represents you. The experience you give your clients truly is what makes them come back. I try my best to be very communicative with my clients, to create unique designs, and set ups for them to enjoy for years and generations to come. I recently got my very own studio about 2.5 years now and it has also given me the opportunity to open my doors for other photographers to rent my space and get creative themselves!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If there is one thing I love to do is definitely go out! I love the city. I love going out to dinner and having a great time!! For me we would definitely go and have a spa day at Glen Ivy, probably try a new restaurant in town and maybe join a cocktail mixology class with Kandy Cocktails!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout series to my husband David. He’s been an amazing support in this journey for me. He has loved and encouraged me through it all, believed in me every time I feel like I failed. He always helps anyway he can to make this journey easier for me. My husband builds a lot of my projects and I am grateful for that. He is truly amazing. I do all I do for him and my babies; however, I can not forget about 2 of the most amazing humans who I met in this photography industry and now call them amazing friends, Ana Fleming from herlifebehindthelens and Dina Rash from ksmediacreator. They have always shown me so much love and support! They both have a true heart of gold and I feel so blessed and lucky to have developed the friendships that we have.
